Summary

Background The project DAN.THE originated from the results obtained with the project "Dance acCEssibility and Inclusion - DAN.CE IN" carried out by the leader Iijshaamanka in 2018 under the measure SPORT - Small Collaborative Partnerships. The challenge of providing social inclusion opportunities for the disabled through inclusive dance practice had fully achieved its goal allowing the participants to experience meaningful experiences breaking down the barriers between disabled and normo-enabled, using the medium of movement and dance and allowing the creative and artistic act to take shape in bodies "perfect in their imperfection". The impact that this path had had had led the proposing associations to reflect on the importance of recognizing such paths and the professionals who conducted these processes. For this reason, the challenge that the partners had wanted to accept with the project DAN.THE was to create a network that would increase the skills of the professional figure of the theater / dance operator focused on social inclusion, providing them with the theoretical and practical bases to work with other methodologies and other target groups of young people. Objectives The DAN.THE project addressed the following specific objectives: O1. Increasing the organizational skills of the proposing associations in terms of the ability to act on ideas and opportunities and to transform them into opportunities for social inclusion, in programming and project management, and in the ability to cooperate transnationally. O2. Increasing the theoretical-practical knowledge, skills and abilities of the youth workers of the partner organizations in training, educational and artistic interventions aimed at social integration through pathways of physical theatre and inclusive and sensitive dance. O3. Increasing the growth and socialization opportunities of the specific target groups such as disabled (physical and mental), adolescents from fragile socio-economic contexts, migrants and disadvantaged young people living in peripheral neighbourhoods of metropolitan areas. O4. Communicating the project activities to local and national stakeholders, and disseminating the good practices identified to other similar organizations outside the partnership.
