Youth Life: Refugees Become Counsellor and trainer
▶Summary
Background The idea for the project was born thanks to the experiences gained from the partnership in the sector of reception and support for migrant people. On the basis of these life experiences lived alongside people with a migrant background, in fact, the partners have identified the need to create paths of inclusion for young migrants, often grappling with greater socio-occupational integration difficulties than their European peers . In fact, young migrants notoriously have fewer opportunities to actively participate in the social and economic life of the area in which they reside and are at a high risk of marginalisation. The idea of realizing, thanks to the project, training activities with the aim of forming the figure of REBECO, was born precisely to give a contribution to the satisfaction of the aforementioned needs. To do this, the partnership shared its best practices. The RE.BE.CO. trained in this way, i.e. operators or volunteers who, within a team, will facilitate the orientation and inclusion of other young migrants, play a fundamental role in promoting the integration process and therefore, as recipients services, have become counselors and trainers for other young migrants Objectives The RE.BE.CO Project was born from the bottom up and from listening to real needs with the intention of realizing an exchange of good practices on the inclusion of young migrants and with the aim of inserting RE.BE.COs in reception contexts , or young migrants trained for the purpose. Through this training, suitably trained migrants will come into contact with other young foreigners by supporting other educators/operators to improve the relationship dynamics with young people and with their own families, when present. The project intended to bring the young foreign guests into contact with the RE.BE.CO operators of the project, who are also young migrants active in the reception contexts, in order to facilitate their inclusion and active citizenship. Figures trained and able to work in teams, in fact, undoubtedly increase the involvement of trained young people and enhance their skills, bringing a benefit and a better inclusive action in relation to other young people, in reception centers and other structures in the European territory . The aim of the project was also to raise awareness of the issue among citizens, operators, teachers, public bodies and associations. Implementation During the project, project management activities were carried out including: coordination, the implementation of TPM, the drafting of a risk assessment document and an activity assessment document and the drafting of reports. Furthermore, were carried out activities aimed at the collection, analysis, discussion and selection of good partnership practices applied to inclusion and positive communication of the migratory phenomenon. Consequently, the partners selected the training needs emerging from the previous phases to produce an educational program aimed at training the REBECO figure and proceeded to identify the methods of enrollment and selection of the participants in the aforementioned training phase. Subsequently, was carried out the training activity aimed at future REBECOs which took a total of 80 hours, including 30 hours of theoretical lessons and 50 of laboratory activities. Furthermore, during the execution phase of the project, micro communication events were carried out by each partner for the dissemination of the activities and results. A YouTube channel was created and news were published on partner websites and social channels.
