Summary

Background In our project on symbolic violence, which we named GENDER for short, we were able to bring awareness to the public, up-to-date fieldwork information, and a free guidebook and films.Within the scope of the project, we created a guidebook with short films in 5 languages. The reproduction of gender inequality through symbolic violence is the main impediment to gender equality. Symbolic violence as the potential or ability to obtrude certain means, cognitive structures, and dispositions which represent political and economic power in invisible, concealed, naturalised and unquestioned forms upon social agents to comprehend and adapt to the social world. Gender relations are contingent and arbitrary. It is produced, reproduced, perpetuated and legitimised as a paradigmatic effect of symbolic violence(Bourdieu,1990c). Based on the above reason, we made awareness films and fieldwork. In the project, we had the opportunity to compare the level of symbolic violence in different countries. We presented the perception of symbolic violence in different countries to academics and interested parties as new data.We have raised awareness among young people about symbolic violence. We distributed our project book and films to 3 different countries. Objectives What we wanted to achieve in the project was to raise awareness about Symbolic violence in 3 different countries. Then, we aimed to work on awareness at the global level. We have successfully completed all the work we targeted in the project. Within the scope of the project, we held 3 training events and 3 promotional meetings. In the project, data were collected from nearly 600 people from different nationalities living in Turkey and Europe. Data analyzes were made into a book. We provided new data to those who are interested in the subject by conducting current field studies on symbolic violence in 3 different countries. We have produced videos on the subject of the project so as to include the hearing impaired. During the project activities, we made the participants aware of symbolic violence. We produced a project book in 3 languages. We shot films in 4 languages. We ensured the dissemination of the project through social media and web pages.
