Objectives

Materials (film and accompanying work materials) have been created for students and teachers to enable them to learn and teach selected aspects of food security (animal husbandry, slaughter, processing, refinement, consumption, ethics etc.). The materials are flexible and can be used without prior knowledge. They can be used in lessons, project work and events, but also for enrichment in a personal context (intercultural, social learning). Differentiated knowledge (job-oriented, competence-oriented, language-oriented) has been created for various (professional) groups and the scope for action (e.g. laws, regulations, labelling etc.) has been demonstrated.

Activities

Students and teachers from our partners and employees of 'Tierschutz macht Schule' regularly networked and exchanged ideas as part of the project. There were various forms of communication. In April 2022, there was a meeting lasting several days in Brixen, and in April 2023 a meeting lasting several days took place in Vienna. Online meetings (5 in total) and working groups (there were 3 working groups with specific topics) were also held at different intervals and in different constellations. The project team had in total 30 online meetings within the project period.

Impact

The project result was a film made by young people for young people in German as well as accompanying working materials in German, English and Italian (each over 70 pages). created. Selected aspects of the topic of food security were examined: animal husbandry, slaughter, processing, refining, consumption, ethics, harvest, etc.
