Women in Power for a Green Economy

The Covid-19 crisis highlighted the urgent need for a sustainable economy, reinforcing the importance of the Green Economy as the future of sustainable development. Transitioning to a greener economy requires both innovation and a well-prepared workforce. According to the ILO, 24 million green jobs could be created by 2030, yet the lack of a common definition makes job orientation challenging. Studies show that women play a crucial role in achieving a Green Economy, offering them opportunities for economic empowerment and inclusion. The Women4Green project addressed these needs by inspiring and educating young women (14–20) to pursue careers in the Green Economy. It also worked to clarify green jobs/skills and integrated a gender-sensitive approach into career orientation, ensuring green jobs become a key part of future employment opportunities.

The Women4Green project aimed at: *RAISING young women’s AWARENESS AND INTEREST in future relevant green jobs (especially of those in the career orientation phase between 14 and 20 years) *EMPOWER AND EDUCATE young women to decide for a green profession *PROVIDE a clear understanding about existing/arising green jobs, required skills/competences and potential educational paths in this regard *FOSTERING an ADAPTION IN CAREER ORIENTATION to include green professions in the career orientation process, aiming at a gender-sensitive approach to specifically target women *and finally PROMOTING a gender-sensitive approach in the recruitment of green economy jobs
