Smart toolkit for supporting adult workers and adults educators in the educational digital upskilling pathways.
▶Summary
Evidence in the last months has shown that educators had serious difficulties in coping with this new teaching environment and need to be equipped way better. This project focused on supporting adult educators and trainers in acquiring and developing digital pedagogic skills and competences required for a successful digital transformation process in teaching and learning. D-upskill.50 aimed to integrate technologies in the classroom and help adult educators orchestrating and managing this digital change, proving them with practical digital tools and resources which will, on the one hand, help them identify their current level of digital performance (digital pedagogies gaps, growth potential and areas of action), and on the other, support their digital teaching practice and professional development.
▶Objectives
The D-upskills.50 project aimed at supporting adult educators and trainers in acquiring and developing digital pedagogic skills and competences required for a successful digital transformation process in teaching and learning. Concretely, the project's objective has been to design and develop a self-assessment tool that help educators identify their current level if digital performance, identify their digital pedagogies gaps, their growth potential and areas of action. This tool has been accompanied by electronic guides to support the acquisition and/or development process of digital pedagogic competences and skills, equipped with interactive figures, electronic instructions, repository of useful resources, tips and tricks to make their teaching more engaging for learners and digital learning nuggets to support their learning process.
▶Activities
The project involved the following activities: 1. Exchange of experiences, best practices, and approaches between peers. Although an initial needs analysis has been performed for this project, the first phase of the project will consist in pedagogical conversation and informal learning among the participating institutions and setting the grounds /basis for a fruitful collaboration. 2. Design, implementation and pilot testing of the project results: the self-assessment tool, the electronic guides and the videobook platform. Along with the design of the tools and resources each results includes piloting sessions with teachers and trainers in each participating Adult Education organisation. This project also included two different Learning, Teaching, Training Activities with the participation of Adult Education (AE) providers and experts in the field of educational innovation, e-learning and ICT for educational purposes. 3. Dissemination and multiplication of the project outcomes within and outside the participating organisations. The project consortium sought to maximise the impact during its implementation, using partners strong dissemination potential. For dissemination purposes we used a platform (web portal) which has been elaborated as our main communication channel with the wide audience, potentially interested in the project outcomes. The website contains a new section which will include all project dissemination events, including TPMs and contributions through social media.
▶Impact
This project has produced three main results: : R1/ Smart Digital Health-Check Tool for Adults Educators: The aim of this Result 1 was to assist educators acquire the needed digital pedagogical skills tailored to e-learning training for adults over 50 years old. The Smart Digital Health-Check Tool consists of an online dynamic questionnaire (web responsive) when exploring the four pedagogical digital skills that have been identified in the DigCompEdu and that we consider the most relevant ones for a further analysis: 1) Digital resources; 2) Teaching and Learning; 3) Assessment; 4) Empowerment strategies for learners. Access to the tool can be found here: https://digitalupskill.eu/smart-digital-health-check-tool/ R2/ E-Guides for Adults Educators based on Design Thinking Human-Centered Methodology (E-book format). This second result focused on adult educators who undergo the digital health-check have the opportunity to choose which area they wanted/needed to improve and received the resources to do so. R2 consisted on the elaboration of a set of four interactive electronic guides that supported the educators in improving those skills that have been identified by the assessment tool “Smart Digital Health-Check Tool”. Each guide dealt with different digital skills and the educator can choose which skills he/she needs to improve and includes a short introduction with interactive figures (infographics), electronic instructions, repository of useful resources, tips, tricks & interactive questions to improve the skills, audio-visual materials in form of digital nuggets for educators. They also each have QR code so that they can be accessed easily and red in the mobile phone or tablet. The produced guides can be used together or separately. R3/ VideoBook Platform Result number 3 contemplates the creation of an open access VideoBook Platform which allows the digital contents to be globally accessible, as they are in English and translated into the six languages of the project, allowing the possibility of sharing them with other users and in spaces aimed at generating social networks.
