Objectives

In implementing the 'Happiness - simple solution to complex problems' project, our primary objectives were to enhance the social and emotional well-being of students aged 13-17 and to equip teachers with the necessary tools and training for this purpose. We aimed to develop and integrate a happiness-focused curriculum into the educational system, addressing a significant gap in traditional academic programs. This curriculum was designed to improve students' self-awareness, empathy, resilience, and overall mental health. Additionally, we wanted to create innovative, accessible online learning resources and a comprehensive teacher training toolkit. These tools were intended to support the practical application of happiness and well-being principles in everyday classroom activities. Ultimately, our goal was to foster a more holistic educational environment where students could thrive not only academically but also emotionally and socially, preparing them for a balanced and successful future.

Impact

The project achieved several concrete outputs and results: Results: Teacher Support Materials: A comprehensive booklet of good practices and a teachers' toolkit were created to assist teachers in implementing the training effectively in their daily work. Competence and Skills Matrix (CSM): The CSM was created to organise necessary skills and identify knowledge gaps, supporting the development of the project's training content. Happiness Training Content: We developed specialised tailored training content for students aged 13-17. Online Educational Resource (OER): An innovative OER was developed, featuring bite-sized, engaging learning modules tailored to student needs. Outputs: Enhanced Teacher’s awareness: The project significantly increased teachers' awareness of the importance of students' happiness and social-emotional skills. Improved Student’s skills: Students developed enhanced social and emotional skills, including mindfulness, self-awareness, empathy, and trustworthiness, alongside a focus on positive life aspects.
