▶Objectives
The i-Coach project aimed to fisrtly introduce the role of the i-Coach Expert: we wanted to create and promote the i-Coach Expert profile to support VET entitties and businesses in providing quality internship opportunities and ensure pedagogical support for work-based learning conditions. Second, we wanted to develop all necessary resources and tools to support the role of the i-Coach expert and we called it the i-Coach Innovative Training Toolbox: it is specifically designed to equip end-users with the knowledge required to create and manage internship programs or support employees in transitioning to new roles within their organizations. It includes everything from a detailed job description and characteristics of the i-Coach expert to a dedicated manual with specialsed training contents. Third, we wanted to enhance WBL Practices: Through the project activities and our sustainability activities, we are transfering innovative knowledge, tools, and practices based on WBL knowledge, fostering succesful collaboration between relevant stakeholders, and exploit ICT tools to address the identified issues.
▶Activities
The goals of the i-Coach project have been fullfilled via the following specific activities: Design of the i-Coach Expert Skill Set Profile: We've conducted a needs analysis to determine the necessary skills and competencies for the i-Coach Expert. That happened by organising a set of focus groups to gather feedback on work-based learning needs from relevant stakeholders. Then we developed national reports to depict the current state of WBL in each partner country, followed by a more a comprehensive report on the skills set required for the i-Coach Expert profile. Next we developed the i-Coach Training Toolbox: This activity began by formulating the i-Coach Training Methodology based on the results from the skill set profile. Based on that, we developed specific training content aligned with this methodology, which was translated into all partner languages in additional to English. Next, we've ceated an e-learning platform to support training and facilitate collaboration between learners and trainers. The training contents we test via a dedicated Train the Trainers Workshop to train appointed trainers from each partner country and a pilot testing with actual representatives of the project TGs to assess and fine-tune the training content . We've made sure to make the project sustainble by developing the i-Coach Collaboration Model, detailing the best practices of the project and explaining specifically how to replicate the excellent results of the i-Coach initatitve on a national level and involve key stakeholders groups in improving WBL on a local and antional level. We've also worked on rasing more awareness about the topics of the project, by organising a series of events towards the end of the project to promote the project outcomes, the i-Coach Training Toolbox, and the Collaboration Model Report to ensure widespread adoption and use of the project deliverables.
▶Impact
The tangible outputs of the project can be summarized as follows: 1. The i-Coach Expert Skill Set Profile The partnership invested quite a lot of internal and external resources in trying to find out the proper competencies for the unique i-Coach Expert’s professional profile. Hence, the Consortium engaged different stakeholders (businesses, educational institutions and students) to identify gaps in current practices for Work-Based Learning via research, analysis and organization of specific focus groups. Based on the above-mentioned activities, the partnership elaborated the i-Coach Expert Skill Set Report – a comprehensive document identifying what characteristics, knowledge, skills and competences should the i-Coach Expert possess. 2. The i-Coach Training Toolbox Based on the i-Coach Expert Skill Set Report, the partnership developed a comprehensive training course comprising of 6 training modules: - Pedagogy, teaching principles, learning processes; - Communication and active listening; - Organization and time management; - Motivating and encouraging interns; - Emotional intelligence; - Internship promotion The training course consist of theory, interactive videos, guided examples and a series of practical exercises aimed at understanding key concepts related to internship management and implementation. The training content is available in 7 languages: English, Bulgarian, Greek, Spanish, Italian, Romanian and French. 3. The i-Coach Training Methodology To support the exploitation of the i-Coach Training Toolbox, the partnership developed a dedicated training methodology, offering practical and theoretical guidelines for delivering the i-Coach curriculum. The methodology is meant for both VET staff and other organizations delivering the i-Coach training course. 4. The i-Coach Training Platform The interactive multilingual platform of the i-Coach project, is an open-source tool for e-learning solutions, fully customized to the needs of the course. It hosts the curriculum training materials as well as modular materials and all other pedagogical tools necessary for a smooth learning experience. The i-Coach Collaboration Model Report To ensure that all project activities are shared, complement the flexibility of learning opportunities and contribute to VET innovation, the partnership elaborated the i-Coach Collaboration Model Report – a comprehensive document that serves as a blueprint and guideline for various stakeholders, explaining how to use and apply the i-Coach Toolkit, its added value and benefits. However, the significance of the Report lies in its ability to foster strategic, transparent, and innovative collaborations across diverse sectors, including businesses, educational institutions and policy-making bodies.
