Objectives

We have developed a methodology for secondary school teachers that comprehensively addresses climate change and landscape adaptation to climate change. Students who have gone through the methodology over the course of one school year have come to understand the causes and consequences of climate change and have themselves become actively involved in addressing a problem area in the landscape around them. The Czech students mapped the Bavor's stream catchment in detail and proposed revitalisation measures leading to greater water retention in the landscape. The Slovak students proposed the creation of a park at the confluence of the Váh River and the Biely Stream so that the site would support biodiversity but also serve as a recreational area for people. Both school teams continue to work on their projects and have presented their plans to the school and some to the city council.
