Circu metodika pro základní školy

The reason for applying for this project was an effort to incorporate environmental education and to bring the concept of circular economy closer to the education of children at primary school. As part of this project, a textbook, methodology and website were created to support the education of pupils at primary school. This brought the methodology and teaching methods to the various schools that piloted it. Subsequently, the methodology was evaluated and modified.

The methodology was piloted in five schools: Bambi Kindergarten and Primary School, Košetice Kindergarten and Primary School, Želiv Kindergarten and Primary School, Slunečnice Kindergarten and Primary School and Hradská Humpolec Primary School. Originally, the plan was to pilot only at the Hradská Primary School, but in the end we managed to expand this scope. References from these schools can be found on the project website cirkularne.cz. During the piloting, face-to-face meetings took place at schools in several phases: At the start of work on the methodology and textbook, during and at the end of piloting. In the course of the process, the same questionnaire and newsletter were sent to the schools. After the completion of the project, all primary schools whose contact was available were contacted. A total of 4,293 schools were sent to order the program, which includes user access to the website, methodology and textbook. The aim was to distribute the methodology and textbook to 5% of schools, which represents 214 schools. We believe that this number will be gradually met.

As part of our project, we carried out the following activities. In the beginning, we visited several schools and discussed the form of methodology, teaching and the form of the textbook that would best meet the needs of pupils of all ages. Furthermore, we have grouped the individual topics into units, chapters that relate to the everyday life of pupils. Gradually, we put together various activities and experiences of schools and partners who collaborated on the project. The textbook and methodology were implemented by schools as part of the pilot into their curricula. During this time, several visits and the creation of a newsletter were made, which was sent to the pilot schools. From the activities that are the subject of the teaching materials, we completed the production of various products, an exhibition of works made from recycled materials, the production of circular furniture in our primary school and the shooting of a comic book, the preparation of meals or the connection and programming of the textbook with the website.

The result is a circular economy textbook, methodology, website that provides teaching of circular economy in primary schools.
