Zdravá krajina - Poznej svou krajinu v ČR a v Chorvatsku
▶Summary
The project was focused on the environmental and geographical education of secondary school students based on oriented research of selected localities in their mother country. The motivation to implement the project was based on the demand of pedagogues to increase the attractiveness of studying natural sciences based on the interactive involvement of students in their own research. The purpose of the project was to establish friendship and cooperation between partner schools, to acquire knowledge about the qualities and problems of the landscape in the region of both partner schools, to acquire skills in the field of orientation and work with geographic data with the involvement of digital technologies and the development of key competencies, and to improve the geography and natural science training of students. Within the project, modern teaching methods implemented in the natural environment and in local farms and eco-centres were used. Thanks to the project, students were able to connect theory with practice and better understand and retain the acquired knowledge. The project continued to the worldwide climate changes associated with the loss of water in the wild, which fundamentally reduces biodiversity.
▶Objectives
The goal of the project was to expand the students' knowledge of the local region and its ecosystems - to learn to identify the environmental problems of the landscape and to connect theoretical knowledge with their own research, which will promote their interest in science and environmental protection. Thanks to the international cooperation, the participants of the project realized that disturbed biodiversity and the threat of ecosystems is not only a problem of their country, but a global problem, the solution of which must involve both individuals (personal responsibility) and the whole society.
▶Activities
As part of teamwork, students learned to cooperate and share their own observations, search for information, work with it and then present it. The international nature of the project gave the students an insight into the environmental problems of the landscape in another country, when the goal should be to understand that global climate changes have the same denominator across all countries – ignorance of natural natural processes and an unsparing approach to the environment.
▶Impact
As part of the implementation of the project, posters on the given topics, interactive presentations/videos on the given topics, a Czech-Croatian and a Croatian-Czech geographical and ecological dictionary were created, and greenery was planted with local actors involved. In addition, the students took part in an orientation-oriented survey of the landscape, workshops and visited eco-centers and eco-farms.
