BE DIGI, BE ECO, BE IN (Modern Technologies and Sustainable Development as the Key to Saving Eart)
▶Summary
The project aimed to enhance digital technology integration in education, building on our school’s commitment to innovative teaching. The shift to online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic emphasized the need to improve digital skills. By collaborating with EU partner schools, we exchanged best practices, explored new teaching methods, and strengthened interdisciplinary learning. A key focus was GIS and IBSE, promoting critical thinking and linking geography, ICT, mathematics, and foreign languages to improve students' job prospects. The project aimed to raise awareness of climate change and sustainability, showcasing renewable energy, industrial transformations, and organic agriculture. We also wanted to encourage female participation in ICT, making technology more accessible through practical tasks. Cooperation with universities and businesses would connected theory with practice, enhancing entrepreneurship and creativity. International collaboration enriched cultural understanding and modernized teaching. The project also addressed improving digital literacy, interdisciplinary learning, English language skills and students' readiness for future careers in science and technology.
▶Objectives
Our project objectives were as follows: • to introduce digital technologies into everyday teaching, • to bridge disparities in students' digital skills gained during the pandemic, • to stress necessity of systematic development and teacher training, • to introduce GIS (Geographic Information Systems) in cooperation with universities to highlight regional opportunities • to ballance digital learning with inquiry-based methods, • to strengthens students' ties to their home region, encouraging them to contribute to its sustainable future, • to combine digital and personal learning experiences, • to promote group work and experiential pedagogy, allowing students to explore non-traditional solutions and collaborate on tasks, • to promote STEM to STEAM learning, merging science with creativity. • to develop key competencies, preparing students for a digitally and environmentally responsible future. • to lead students to mutual cooperation and communication to develop their language skills, • to lead student to greater understanding of different types of diversity by involving students with fewer opportunities into all activities, • to increase girls´ motivation to study mathematics, science and IT.
▶Activities
We implemented all planned activities - three online projects; - five LTTAs in Lithuania, Italy, Romania, Portugal and the Czech Republic; - creating ecodigin.eu web; - multilingual, vocabulary of project related words; - list of iTool for teaching.
▶Impact
Our results were: • ecodigin.eu web; • 3 online projects in Teams; • vocabulary of geographical and environmental words in languages of all partner countries (+English, German and French); • worksheets for LTTAs and other events; • 2 board games
