The main objective of the project was to empower pupils to navigate and understand the world around them, enabling them to act as active and responsible agents in a democratic society. This main objective was met by focusing on the following specific operatives: - Teachers acquire the knowledge and competencies to promote and propagate active and responsible citizenship in their regular classes to pass these competencies to pupils. - Pupils learn through their own experience (based on developed methodology) how to deal with complex issues and information to make sense of and understand the situation. - As for the young generations, the internet and social media especially play a key role in obtaining information, pupils learn how to approach the information on the internet. - Pupils learn to understand their motivation and the motivation of others to reflect upon their norms, biases, expectations, and desired outcomes. They also learn how to respond to the situation according to their values and the (possible) impacts of their actions. - Pupils learn how to actively engage with an open approach and are ready to consider the (different) views of others.

The ACTIVE Toolkit represents robust methodological and practical materials consisting of 15 materials that can be divided into four groups: a) Overview describing the structure of the Toolkit and providing information to help navigate the teachers how to use the Toolkit b) Modules providing theoretical background to prepare teacher for implementation of the activities c) Step by step Activities for teachers to implement the Toolkit in the class with students d) Working materials to be used by teachers with students The ACTIVE Toolkit is covering the topics of: finding reliable source of information and how to approach information on the internet, values, norms and biases, designing research, methods and collecting evidence, making sense of information. The ACTIVE Toolkit as such providing unique set of knowledge and tools to be used to deal with actual topics concerning fake-news, disinformation, and mutual communication and understanding different point of views. Providing unique Tools and Activities for teachers how to tackle and take into the class actual and potentially controversial topics. Ready to use Guidelines for ACTIVE and responsible citizenship in schools are then presenting the example of concrete activities done by teachers, the outcomes of the ex-post evaluation and guidance how to implement the ACTIVE Toolkit in schools.
