Summary

The project was initiated to address the urgent need for the digital professional development among teacher educators in Europe. Education today must prepare students for a rapidly changing world where digital competence is essential. However, many teacher educators lack structured opportunities to develop their digital skills, leading to disparities in digital proficiency. The project aimed to: - Train and support teacher educators in digital teaching; - Foster a digitally creative mindset and professional autonomy; - Encourage digital innovation; - Connect teacher educators across borders and disciplines; - Create spaces for good practice exchange and reflective dialogue; - Develop strategic digitalisation plans at multiple levels and recognise European qualifications for the digitalisation of teacher educators. The project responded to: - A lack of structured digital training and varying competence levels; - Challenges in integrating digital tools effectively in teaching future teachers; - Limited collaboration across colleagues, faculties, institutions and countries; - Resistance to digitalisation, requiring mindset shifts.

Objectives

The project aimed to promote and facilitate digitalisation among teacher educators in Europe and beyond. By implementing this project, we sought to enhance digital competences, foster collaboration, and establish long-term strategies for teacher educators. Objectives were: - Develop a hybrid professional development programme to strengthen digital skills, creativity, and readiness for online teaching, as well as provide resources for tech-based assessment and feedback; - Empower teacher educators to become active participants in their professional learning; - Encourage transnational and interdisciplinary collaboration on digital teaching practices; - Promote a European Digital Education Hub as a space for knowledge exchange; - Actively encourage the democratic co-creation of digital spaces and practices, fostering critical digital literacy and responsible engagement in virtual learning environments; - Provide policy recommendations for digitalisation strategies for teacher educators at European, national, and institutional levels; - Enhance the reputation of teacher education through professionalisation and innovation.
