Objectives

Project's first objective was to develop a digital education ecosystem in the partner organisations, by building capacity and critical understanding on how to exploit the opportunities offered by digital technologies for teaching and learning and by developing a digital transformation plan. For this the project planned for the project partners to implement a digital transformation in their respective Sea Schools, tailored to their needs and abilities and by combining the partner's experiences and strengths. The project's second objective was to support the provision of flexible and high quality education and training in Sea Schools, adapted to correspond to the requirements of the digital era and the COVID-19 impact, by sharing all knowledge, experience and good practices acquired by performing the digital transformation in the partner organisations, with other sea schools and other VET organisations. For this the project partners wanted to develop a methodology to track and document their own digital transformation including its planning, and make it a plan/ template that can help other Sea Schools and VET providers to use this experience and methodology for implementing digital transformation in their organisations.

Activities

The project partners developed a methodology and guide for the digital transformation process of sea schools in order to increase the competitiveness and resilience of their organisations. Through various activities the partners identified the main digital transformation areas in sea schools, identified their own digital transformation needs and possibilities and implemented these during the project period. To enable other sea schools to use this work and transfer the developed methodology into their own organisations, the partners developed a blueprint guide for digitalisation planning and implementation and also developed an open resource online platform that was integrated into its website and serves as a resource of knowledge for digital transformation of education and training in sea schools.

Impact

The concrete outputs and results of the project are: 1.) that each of the partners developed a digital transformation plan tailored to their needs and capabilities, 2.) that the partners implemented their planned digital transformation during the project period, 3.) an open resource online platform, integrated into the project's website (https://digitalseaschool.eu/), including a) an analysis of the outcomes of the OPC on the Digital Education Action Plan 2021-2027 with regard to sea schools b) useful online teaching strategies and teaching/learning tools for sea schools c) a set of sample teaching and learning materials 4.) a report on relevant resources and good practices 5.) a methodology and blueprint for sea schools to analyse their digitalisation needs and capabilities (¨Digital Transformation process for education and training¨), 6.) a template for planning, executing and validating the digitalisation of a sea school.
