Need for Lead

The 'Need for Lead' project addresses the urgent needs related to digital transformation and the inclusion of persons with disabilities and theis famiy members, in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated challenges for marginalized groups, particularly families of people with disabilities, leading to job losses, economic hardship, and mental health issues. Additionally, the war in Ukraine shifted our focus from just post-COVID to broader crises. Our project aimed to develop a Guide for the mental adaptation of family members and designed and provided training on online professions, fostering an inclusive digital future. We seek to bridge the gap between people with disabilities and the broader community through digital technologies, enhancing online employability, digital education, and overall inclusion. Aligned with Erasmus+ 2021-2027 priorities, this project directly addresses European community needs. By improving the well-being of family members of people with disabilities, we contribute to community economic growth and mental health, ultimately leading to happier lives for all involved.

By implementing the 'Need for Lead' project, we aimed to achieve several key objectives: Mental Adaptation Support: Enhance the mental adaptation of family members of people with disabilities to help them cope with challenges more effectively. Digital Skills Training: Provide knowledge on working online and digital skills to our target group, enabling them to participate in the digital economy. Improved Inclusion: Foster inclusion in Europe, reducing the gap between society and people with disabilities and their families. Flexible Adult Education: Contribute to making adult education more flexible and improving digital education opportunities. Awareness Raising: Increase awareness about European funds, Erasmus+ opportunities, and lifelong learning.

To achieve our objectives, the 'Need for Lead' project included several key activities: Transnational Project Meetings: We held a kickoff meeting in Marburg, followed by meetings in Vigo and Budapest, along with regular online meetings to discuss, plan, and improve our outcomes. Learning, Teaching, and Training Activity (LTTA): In Malaga, we conducted a training session to showcase and refine our outputs. Research on Digitalization: Each partner conducted research on digitalization in the social sector of their country to identify the target group's needs. Online Guide: We developed a comprehensive guide on mental adaptation for family members of people with disabilities, including methodologies, innovative approaches, online tools, and communication methods. Training on Online Employment: We created training modules covering entrepreneurship skills and a module for trainers or mentors to provide education on digital work. Accessible Online Platform: We launched a free-to-use platform hosting the training modules to make resources widely available. Multiplier Events: Each partner organized events in their country to disseminate project results and engage local actors in adult education, social, and community work. Dissemination: Partners promoted the project's outcomes through their networks, websites, and the project's online pages, ensuring broad reach and impact. These activities formed a logical sequence, allowing us to build a strong foundation for supporting the mental adaptation and digital skills development of family members of people with disabilities, thereby enhancing their inclusion and participation in the digital economy. The 'Need for Lead' project produced several concrete outputs and achieved significant results: Online Guide: A comprehensive guide on mental adaptation for family members of people with disabilities, including methodologies, innovative approaches, online tools, and communication methods. Training on Online Employment: Training modules covering entrepreneurship skills and a module for trainers or mentors to provide education on digital work. Accessible Online Platform: A free-to-use platform hosting the training modules, making resources widely available. Throughout the project, we conducted research on digitalization in the social sector of each partner country to identify the target group's needs. We organized multiplier events in each partner country to disseminate project results and engaged local actors in adult education, social, and community work. We established effective communication methods, improved English proficiency among beneficiaries, and facilitated intercultural exchange, enhancing understanding of diverse cultures and working approaches. The project also fostered inclusion by raising awareness about equality for people of all abilities across Europe. The longer-term benefits include improved inclusion in Europe and digitalization of citizens. The project has created a permanent network for ongoing collaboration, ensuring sustainability beyond the project's duration. The Online Guide and other project results will remain accessible, promoting continuous use and impact. We navigated financial challenges, with partners contributing significant resources due to only receiving 40% of the budget thus far. This experience enhanced our crisis management skills and strengthened our partnership. By uniting different European countries, the project has contributed to a more inclusive society, allowing people with disabilities to participate equally and develop professionally, benefiting the economies and communities of all partner countries.
