▶Objectives
Young people alone cannot change the world – it takes a collective effort to achieve an impact on reducing our carbon emissions and changing our consumption and waste production habits. Senior citizens have considerable tacit knowledge garnered during less affluent eras, when resourcefulness and imagination were needed to find quick fixes to problems. Many of these solutions, which are still relevant today and could be implemented across the whole of society, emerged due to shortages of raw materials, lower income thresholds than we see today, and a less wasteful consumer ethos throughout the community than one experiences today. The focus of the project is to demonstrate the considerable value that the tacit knowledge of older generations has in a climate change crisis, while at the same time introducing the latest high-tech applications that help reduce the carbon footprint of every individual. Calendar for Climate Change is a knowledge exchange project between young digital natives and older generations.
