Developing transversal digital competences for digital Continuous Vocational Education and Training in construction
▶Summary
Digi-CVET has been and is a direct response to the changing needs in work life, where in the near future approximately 9 out of 10 jobs will still require at least simple but up to advanced digita...
▶Objectives
This project aimed at achieving 6 targets 1) Digi-CVET course offer how target groups (EQF 4 and up) can appreciate initial training in construction with digital optional elements 2) Development of a digital course to build up horizontal knowledge in digital communication with focus on construction needs in CVET 3) Digi-CVET developed a CVET learning module related to digital collaboration with respect to clouds 4) Main 'emerging technologies' were subject to a new CVET learning offer in terms of defining the significance of them in the (near) future 5) This project was supporting target groups (middle management in SMEs or entrepreneurs) in making use of digital aspects for improving their Employer Brand 6) It aggregated the targets 1-5 on a tailor-made technical platform - ILIAS This ILIAS platfrom was develop and designed to continue using it after the project duration in order to further enrich it with more 'life'. The consortium intended to provide for the target groups a set of digital modules, which enable them to better perform themselves in the use of digital offers in VET, but also to better apply any kind of digital aspect in their professional fields. For VET, it was also intended to demonstrate a technical platform.
▶Activities
Following activities were implemented: in Results 1 (months 1-9 only EN) and 2 (months 10-20, all languages) of Digi-CVET 5 CVET course contents were developed with several subsections in 6 languages (EN, DE, IT, FR, SI, GR). In particular in R 2 a special focus was laid on the integration of country specific media in each language version. i.e. that e.g. youtube videos were embedded in Slovenian language in the Slovenian module and the like with French speaking videos in the French modules. This sounds simple rather it was difficult to explore similar media in the specific languages which fitted properly in the 5 base modules which were the same for all languages in terms of text. Other supporting materials for courses like e.g. FAQs, practical use cases, helpful media or useful references were also explored and integrated during the R2 phase Next to that - on the technical base - there was the development of a VOOC-structure (Vocational Open Online Course). P6 was from the beginning providing a technical infrastructure for the project management and implementation as well as P6 accompanied the content development of other partners with the development of an evolving technical structure what was result in R3 in the VOOC. This kind of a growing technical structure over the project life cycle enabled participants to get familiar with ILIAS step by step. 7 milestones events took place in form of Transnational Project Meetings at all partners venues. This was important to present, adjust and conclude work in the project phases as well as to strengthen the team and also carry out feed back talks about quality management. In May 2023 there were conducted two Learning Teaching and Training Activities (LTTA) on the same day with a corresponding agenda in Düsseldorf (partners BZB/DE, Centre IFAPME/BE and KPG/DE) and Vicenza (partners SCVAP/IT, CCIS/SI and PEDEMEDE/GR) in order to present, demonstrate, operative and conclude about what had been developed so far in the project: ILIAS beta version for the project and module contents. An implicit but important aspect in the LTTA was the cross country online-exchange in the afternoon between Vicenza and Düsseldorf with all LTTA-participants in EN-language. Twice during the project (Jan. 2023 and Feb. 2024) the project was invited by the Conference on Project Development to present the project and interim results as well as the final results and the project customized ILIAS platform. That was an excellent leverage in terms of dissemination apart from the Multiplier Events which took place in the project life cycle. P6 was also developing a technical ILIAS manual for VET-trainers/lecturers and learners.
▶Impact
Development of contents, scenarios, use cases and the technical base: Starting with the kick-off meeting in the 1st month, the partners individually developed a rough structure of content for the thematic content modules. The consortium agreed on a volume of about 30 slides per module in terms of user-friendlyness. That was achieved plus/minus. All rough concepts were developed in English language at that stage; their was an interim status meeting online between the 1. and the 2. TPM to check the development status and to adjust contents not to have overlappings and duplicities in contents. That interim status meeting was the point from which the refined concepts - i.e. elaborating rough concepts more detailed - started. The technical partner set up cloud space with a file/folder struture for internal administraive purpose and a basic ILIAS-LMS project structure as well. All that was presented, discussed and concluded then at the 2. TPM. Development of country specific packages, media and resource packages, Vocational Open Online Course and editors structure in ILIAS: Starting with the end of the 2. TPM and the collective agreement on content in refined modules and the basic structure and look&feel of the ILIAS technical LMS base, the partners went into detail with developing the content modules in detail also with supporting media, i.e. integration of videos, pictures, sketches etc. first in English language. Furthermore, the ILIAS structure was extended along the contents of the modules. This English versions were discussed in an interim status online meeting an then concluded to be elaborated into 1. all languages and 2. enriched with language specific supporting media. At the 5. TPM in May 2023 all language versions were ready to be tested in a beta-structure of ILIAS LMS in advance of the LTTA to take place in Düsseldorf and Vicenza on 31st of May 2023. Development of technical manuals for learners, a trainers and editors; development of badges and adjusting developed VOOC on technical base: Starting after the 5. TPM and after the LTTA the final phase of optimization of contents (based on LTTA findings) as well as the finalization of the ILIAS LMS for Digi-CVET and the development of a supporting documents for ILIAS editors were at stake and have been developed. Additionally partners 1-5 developed assessments for users of the modules. Contents were/are now available in all partner languages plus English in ILIAS Digi-CVET; the editors manual in English. ILIAS only requires a registration with e-mail and password - apart from this it is an open educational resource.
