Objectives

Ultimately, the project results promote the experience of VET placements, the quality of life at work and synergies between companies/organisations, VET centres and students/interns for a better management and coordination of work placements. This translates to improving the involvement and participation of the three key actors in the environment of VET training: VET centres, companies and students. The project also has developed different tools that allow both VET centres and companies to identify the needs of students, and also mechanisms to implement changes to cover these needs. Any VET institutions / companies using VETTER project tools/results will be able to improve the quality of the internship periods within VET through a greater participation of the companies and the monitoring of minimum standards of quality to ensure the provision of health standards at work in a holistic way.

Activities

Firstly, VETTER developed a microlearning open access course (i.e., MOOC) available on an e-Learning platform that helps companies and VET institutions overseeing the internship process ensure the working environment is safer and improve the quality of this environment for interns/trainees. The second activity has been development of the mobile app, which allows for increased accessibility of users to VETTER tools and methodologies and improved monitoring the internship period. Partners have also created a user-friendly guide of methodologies that companies and VET centres can apply in order to ensure a safe and healthy environment for the students. Finally, a network of organisations that comply with the objectives and requirements of the project has been created to ensure the transferability and uptake of project results. Apart from the creation of the results, the project has had two piloting activities to receive valuable monitoring and evaluation input from key stakeholders. Dissemination activities throughout the project have addressed target groups to be aware of the results developed during the project. This has improved the impact of the results and activities proposed.

Impact

The first result developed and achieved according to schedule has been the online platform that hosts a MOOC to help VET centres and organisations develop their competences on how to make their working environment safer and improve the quality of the internship period. The second result is a mobile app for Android users, which is available on the Google PlayStore. This app can be used as a tool for monitoring the quality of the internship process, as well as facilitating the work of the tutor beyond the partnership. The next result is a user-friendly digital methodological guide compiling several methodologies that VET centres and companies can apply to their own internal structures. These methodologies will ensure that the evaluation and monitoring process is improved, as well as the whole process of the internships for the students, which will be adjusted to their real needs. Finally, the project has developed a network of organisations and an official VETTER badge to identify all the organisations and institutions that belong to this network. With this result the project’s outcomes can be further spread across the European Union, assuring that the new tools developed will be used by more organisations.
