Summary

The need for this kind of a project came from the need to develop the competencies of the street youth work practitioners from Estonia and Latvia. When Tartu Youth Work Center started doing street-based youth work in 2020, all youth workers started practicing and also got some basic training on that field. From there the current practitioners started training new youth workers. But since it was all based on learning by doing, we as an organisation hoped to develop our skills through international co-operation and also to make the process of training new youth workers easier and more effective and systematic, because there are no general methods for it in Estonia.

Objectives

The objectives we wanted to achieve with the project were: developing practical competences for street youth work, developing new practices for teaching and supporting street youth workers, including more youngsters at risk in youth work activities and building co-operation with local organisations.

Activities

The activities we implemented during the project were: Project preparation. Kick-off meeting Mapping good practices and gathering background information for intervention practices document Intervention practices document structure creation Online discussions for intervention practices document content Job shadowing in Tartu Finalizing intervention practices document Supervisions for street teams Video content creation and filming Finalizing video production Final seminar: publishing videos and other outputs.
