Summary

One of the horizontal priorities of Erasmus+ Programme is related to the environment and fight against climate change. Our initiative for applying for this project was the identification of the need for modernising and contextualising courses related to sustainable agriculture, focusing on specific attention to adaptation of livestock production and its supply chain to climate change, and to relevant mitigation measures. There is lack of training for specific professionals regarding climate change and its consequences. Furthermore, no equal opportunities for training of interested parties in the agrifood sector exist in the partner countries. Newly emerged strategies and priorities at EU and international levels have created the necessity for the development of training courses adapted to these. We developed training courses in order to raise the awareness of target groups for sustainable growth, targeting primarily the livestock production sector. LIVECLIC also strengthened the competences of specific professionals related amongst others, to sustainable farming and the circular economy, thus making them critical actors of change, as well as to promote the exchange of best practices among the consortium members.

Objectives

Through the LIVECLIC project we mainly aimed to achieve the design and development of training courses related to the sustainable adaptation of Livestock production to Climate Change, based on stakeholders needs, which were assessed through targeted questionnaires. In this context, LIVECLIC provided to stakeholders (such as farmers, professionals of the livestock production and new professionals entering and preparing to enter the sector), the required competences in order to be able to contribute to development of environmentally friendly and sustainable agriculture. The thematics incorporated in the developed courses, are also useful for both professionals and consumers, in terms of a promoting the understanding of more sustainable methods of farming, production, consumption and living. Finally, LIVECLIC has appropriately targeted the education sector to increase the quality of education in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SGD13 “Climate Action” and SDG 4 “Quality Education”)
