Objectives

The motivation of this project is due to the fact that many of our people with intellectual diversity (ID) dream of being able to enjoy an autonomous and independent life, like the rest of their peers. This supposes for all of them a very complicated challenge that both the San Xerome Association and the Associazione Collettivo Street Sociale, as transforming social agents, have the duty to guarantee the access to the Right to emancipation of the people with intellectual diversity, so that they can live as they wish: either in couple, -thus realising their dream of living a full affective-emotional relationship-, with flatmates or in solitude, like any other person who leaves his family home to start a new life of his own, their own life.

Impact

Through the implementation of the activities developed, the following concrete results were achieved: - 60 people with I.D. empowered to manage their own independent life, with the necessary supports. - 60 families supported in the process of recognising their children with I.D. as adults with the right to emancipate themselves. - 30 professionals supporting people with I.D. trained on the functioning of a cooperative, in order to be able to accompany them in the management of the cooperative. - 3 people from the Driving Team trained on how to promote social innovation projects for people with ID. - Dissemination of the project throughout the region (A Guarda, Tui, O Rosal, Oia and Tomiño Town Councils, in the south of Galicia) through the project activities and the presence of a person who carried out expert face-to-face accompaniment. - Creation of a new training curriculum adapted to the learning needs of the target groups, to train and acquire the necessary knowledge and assume their responsibility in the Fogares Sanxe: being members of the cooperative, rights and obligations, decision-making, participation processes, assemblies, shared management of spaces and active participation in the Governing Council.
