GREEN AND SUSTAINABLE PLACES BASED ON AGENDA 20/30
▶Summary
English, this language is taught by traditional methods, our students learn to write, to read and translate but they have difficulty in the interactive stage. We applied for this project also to give them the opportunity to practice English in a real context, implementing their interactive skills. The schools of the partnership, try to give a great impulse to the students participating in European projects. We wanted that the students find different channels where to address their interests so we fostered the theme of the sustainable development which is connected with Agenda 2030. We tried to train some students to be Ambassadors in their own schools. In addition, as the cooperation happened mainly through web tools, we wanted to develop in the students those skills that they will need in a future approach in the labour market. In addition we also applied for this project because we share the same worries about the importance of making our communities and students to be aware of the urgent necessity to change minds and start to create a kind of "sustainable moral sense", that is, a common thought so as to establish a kind of "book of sustainable principles" that rules educational institutions.
▶Objectives
We wanted to promote the student's cultural knowledge which includes the awareness of local, national and European cultural heritage . We wanted to make them live experiences and emotions, to promote their personal attitudes where ICT would help the peer collaboration along the development of the project. We wanted to consolidate their knowledge of common values, civic engagement and participation and acquire green skills. We also pretend our students to be active participants in the project. From the very beginning we want them to be active ambassadors of sustainable schools. Searching information about everything that has to do with the 20/30 Agenda, making digital presentations to show what does it mean to be sustainable and what can they do from their position, participating in active actions like cleaning and collecting trash in seas, parks, learning how to recycle or giving things a new use and a second life, talking and sharing opinions and different views among them thanks to the mobilities to meet all the participants. But the most outstanding achievement is to show the educational communities the main message that start all this project and that is our motto : We can be sustainable from our position.
▶Activities
We implemented several activities as planed at the beginning: we started with web 2.0 tools : the focus was on remote collaboration tools like Google Drive, presentation tools like Canvas, other tools based on gamification like Kahoot, different apps that improve the sense of unity among all our students... All the activities do not produce any waste according to the main basis of the project. All our presentations were made using digital platforms like Google sites, Canvas, Power point in order to be shared with all partners and also to make all the activities be at the same time dissemination products. Students have collected trash from the sea, sea shells to make a workshop of recycling gifts, they have also learnt what is the carbon footprint, they have learnt how to calculate their own footprint and they have become speakers and lecturers to show the rest of the school community the importance of reducing our own carbon footprint. They have also become singers and composers of "The 3 R's song". Activities that consist of using different materials were also designed to be sustainable. We use recycled paper, cardboard folders instead of plastic ones to keep documents, pliers made by our own students to collect trash,
▶Impact
The concrete outputs of the project is to spread the importance of being sustainable as members of educational institutions as role models to follow. All the activities promoted and results along these months shared the same target based on goals 13,14 and 15 of the UN Agenda: Goal 13: Climate action taking urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts. Goal 14: Life below water. To conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development. Goal 15: "Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss. Every member of the four educational institutions involved in the project has made people be conscious of the importance that small steps taken individually means a lot but we also highlighted that joining hands to create a sustainable consciousness is more powerful and the goals of the project spread wider and better running through the four European countries which participate in the project. Our "GASP 20/30/" project also fulfills Goal 17: Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for sustainable development
