โ–ถSummary

We applied for this project because after continuous lockdowns the digital divide in our institutions was huge. This phenomenon was more evident among families of migrants who had arrived at host countries in the last years. The primary schools in the institutions' districts were not ready to face the situation derived from Covid continuous lockdowns and the school failure was aggravated by the lack o digital skills and electronic devices. In all the institutions we assume that the improvement of digital, language and social (interpersonal and intrapersonal) skills among immigrant parents improve the skills of their children. Moreover, the coordinating institution has pioneered the coordination of inclusive European educational projects and has counted on a synergy created by volunteers, numerous stakeholders and transnational partners. The needs we have planned to address are 1) social problems of migrants, unemployed people, who already had difficulties gaining access to public sphere. This issue has worsened by continuous and widespread lockdowns. 2) We have also seen increased feelings of loneliness and depression among senior poluplation. This group has become the volunteering trainers of the training program (Group 3).

โ–ถObjectives

-To develop a holistic training program under the umbrella of active citizenship, tailored to the needs of three vulnerable population groups: migrants, unemployed young adults and adult students with support needs to develop their competences for life, employability and active citizenship. -To enhance the development of digital skills and competences among our migrant learners and vulnerable learners. -To foster critical thinking, a sense of social justice, the need for green policies and knowledge of the rights and duties a democracy offers. -To create intercultural coexistence through real and positive interactions between students from different backgrounds and generations so we have added a fourth target group: adults with support needs.-To promote the Erasmus+ programme among all citizens of different origins and generations. -To foster the enriching value of diversity and inclusion in adult education schools, in communities and in society. -To bridge cultural, generational and social divisions in our institutions. -To meet the training needs of unemployed people, immigrants and vulnerable people after COVID19. -To enhance the transition to more sustainable and inclusive organizations.

โ–ถActivities

Green Digital Diversity has consisted of a training plan with different training actions such as preparation courses for the citizenship exam with a complete new methodology based on discussion groups, a must in most of the participating countries to obtain citizenship. These activities have been held in Germany (Integration Unterichte) and Spain. These Intergenerational discussion groups on social activism from an intergenerational approach (young adults and immigrant learners, adults with spetial needs) have participated in it. They have been innovative also implemented through Paulo Freire chair (Univerity of Valencia and Xativa), debate tables on active citizenship integrated in the citizenship preparation exam course. On the Green Digital project WebPage there is a part of done activities where the pictures of the debate clubs have been displayed. The pictures can be seen in a part called (Intergenarational and intercultural meeting Mallorca). Digital literacy courses consisting of pre-moodle preparation and basic computing courses designed by IBSTEAM as it had been explained in the initial form: 'Alongside its main associates in Mallorca (IBsteam and UIB) will be in charge of the Digitally Competent Citizens programme and the evaluation and assessment' The classroom platform has you tube videos that may have subtitles in many languages and have been used in four of the participating countries (Slovenia, Italy, Germany and Spain) They have consisted of the core of the program. The language courses in the host language (A2) as well as conversation groups for these students in the host language have been carried out. This conversation groups have been a novelty in all the institutions which makes them innovative. Moreover, different seminars on rights and duties have been implemented and have been integrated in the Citizenship preparation exam with a new methodological focus. Apart from the training program, the creation of spaces for intercultural coexistence where there is a real and positive interaction between students from different backgrounds and generations are a common feature in all the 5 institutions (an organic garden and a green sewing workshop). The activities organized in these spaces have also been reflected on the WebPage. These spaces have contributed to make our institutions more sustainable and foster a more responsible behaviour with the environment. These spaces have hosted practical workshops where a course on agricultural techniques have been carried out. Some theory lectures have been given. The green sewing workshop has been complemented with some lectures on the waste hierarchy consisting of 3 Rโ€™s (reduce, reuse, recycle) or the negative consequences of fast fashion consumption for the environment. Different workshops on upcycling have been carried out in Spain, Italy (corso di cucito) and Slovenia. Therefore, the second program's year, a minimum of two training actions have been developed online. The basic computing course and the pre-moodle course has been implemented in all the organizations. Most of these activities are aimed at evolving skills for life, work and citizenship. Most of them are addressed to mixed groups which comprise an equal proportion of the three first targeted groups: migrants, unemployed young adults and students with support needs. The fourth group: the volunteers have partially conducted the workshops. Moreover, a part of the staff of the organizations have been in charge of the development of the activities. The reason why these activities are addressed to these two population groups is because they are represented within our organizations. They had been particularly affected by the COVID 19 crisis. Actually, it was very easy to find interested people to participate in this program. Therefore, the second program's year, a minimum of two training actions have been developed online. The basic computing course and the pre-moodle course have been implemented in all the organizations. Most of these activities are aimed at evolving skills for life, work and citizenship. Most of them are addressed to mixed groups which comprise an equal proportion of the two first targeted groups: migrants and unemployed young adults. The third group has partially conducted the workshops. Moreover, a part of the staff of the organizations has been in charge of the development of the activities. The reason why these activities are addressed to these two population groups is because they are represented within our organizations. Furthermore, they have been particularly affected by the COVID 19 crisis. While it is true that some 'bait' activities had already been carried out in some institutions, there are certain characteristics that make the training plan innovative as well as complementary.Innovative factors: 1. The workshops derived from the garden have been taught by migrant women and have been given a different approach. The objective is to empower the migrant women who teach the workshops and promote integration between the main groups. Thus, an intercultural and intergenerational approach has been given to the activities generated from the organic garden while promoting the methodology of learning among equals. 2. The sewing workshop, which already existed, and the new crafts workshop, organized in Slovenia and Spain, focuses more on upcycling and reuse. This characteristic makes it innovative. The garments are designed with 100% recycled material. For the first time, crafts have been made with 'waste' such as Nespresso capsules to make jewelry. The course: digitally competent citizens has been new in all institutions. The methodology, as well as the target group, are vulnerable adults and a heterogeneous and multicultural group. It has been carried out with a large group of volunteers who train each other. Thanks to the heterogeneity of the facilities, it has been possible to work with a varied group and have avoided forming ghettos in the classroom. In the recycling crafts button, on the left, you can see all these crafts made in Mallorca or Litja (Slovenia). The Nationality course has been given a different approach because discussion groups have been organised. The discussion groups on active and European citizenship have used this methodology, which is also used in the evaluations, see the handbook page.

โ–ถImpact

The holistic two year training program, already mentioned, has consisted of: the training program classes which include the following: a) digital literacy courses divided into: basic computing courses and a preparation pre-moodle course coordinated by the IB-steam (innovation institute in the Balearic Islands); b) host language classes (A2) and conversation clubs on active citizenship issues; d) Citizenship nationality exam preparation, the requirements for obtaining nationality in Spain, Germany (Integration Unterichte) and Italy. A discussion club on citizenship issues (rights and duties, social activism, UN Declaration of Human Rights, relevant national and European legislation) with an intergenerational approach. e) bait activities consisting of a green sewing workshop where second-hand clothes can be redesigned and exchanged (Upcycling). Besides, a lecture on the waste hierarchy consisting of 3 Rโ€™s (reduce, reuse, recycle) or the negative consequences of fast fashion consumption for the environment which has complemented the practical training. f) another bait activity consisting of a urban and organic garden with two focuses: the teaching and learning of agricultural techniques and the talks and workshops on ecological conscioussness. These bait initiatives are appealing activities which make the targeted clubs enroll the training program. These spaces are a meeting point for the residents and the immigrant parents where indigeneous plants as well as plants from the country of origin of the migrants come from. The green sewing workshop also counts on the participation of the local and migrant population. The volunteer trainers are (migrant and locals). Migrant volunteers enhance the peer learning approach. They are integrated migrants, users of the 5 institutions. Familiarization activities (present or virtual dependingn on the sanitary situation): Open Door Day or Intercultural Day at each institution with sporadic activities organized by the learners. The familiarization activities have also been organized by the stakeholders or even in public places like squares, markets etc. See on the WebPage the part: GD Project: Familiarization activities with migrants and with all the community. Tangible results: The information tryptichs are on the website. We have included a separate tab on the WebPage (fourth tab) with the brochures of the associations where the courses have been held and translated into several languages. The same has been done with the logo competition to give it more visibility on the website. The 3 finalists have been included. A google form was used for the vote.Check logo contest.
