Sustainable Financial Literacy for youth disabled

DisFinLit is the acronym for Sustainable Financial Literacy for Youth Disabled, an initiative led by the Instituto de Estudios Financieros (IEF) and co-funded by the ERASMUS+ program to train people with intellectual disabilities in sustainable finance. The idea behind the design of this project was to adapt the curriculum and materials created in the SFINLIT project by adding a special focus on sustainable finances. This adaptation will provide youth disabled with practical knowledge and tools to develop sustainable know-how and make smart and sustainable financial decisions, better understand money management. We are facing an innovation project focused on the need for high quality online tools and platforms that help young people with disabilities to:Develop sustainable financial literacy; Make smart and sustainable financial decisions ; Understand money management ; Cope with an ever-changing economy; Overcome inevitable challenges and take charge of your own financial future. DisFinLit is a project placed in school sector because is at this moment when the early intervention help our target group to understand how important are the sustainable finances their future.

The project addressed the objectives of creating a material accessible to all young people with disabilities to support their learning in sustainable financial education and contribute to an improvement of their personal finances in a Green Deal environment and to create a Community of Good Practice platform where to share and create a community of good practice in sustainable financial education for people with disabilities including all stakeholders from the EU, partner countries and related fields teachers, practitioners promoting towards inclusive education and removing barriers, emphasising equal access to quality education. The project carried out advocacy and outreach activities, engaging in workshops, campaigns and media activities to highlight the challenges faced by young people with disabilities and advocate for their rights. This capacity building initiative equips educators, students, professionals with knowledge and skills to support inclusive financial literacy.

RP 1 started in the first month of the project and ended in January 2023. The activities designed in RP 1 were grouped into 4 main activities: - R1/T1: Compendium of existing educational material and Best Practices on financial literacy and sustainable finance - R1/T2: Definition of LOs in line with EU LLL instruments - R1/T3: Develop training curriculum - R1/T4: Develop pedagogical contents of training materials (Adapt existing OER and/or develop new ones for training). Although ACEEU was the leader of the PR, all partners, namely IEF, Eurodimensions, DFW2W, Effebi and CONACEE, also contributed greatly to the implementation of the PR. This PR was primarily aimed at developing sustainable financial literacy skills for disabled youth. The idea behind the design of this PR was to adapt the curriculum and materials created in the SFINLIT project by adding a special focus on sustainable finance. This adaptation will provide disabled youth with practical knowledge and tools to develop sustainable skills and make smart and sustainable financial decisions, better understand money management. All of these skills are necessary to cope with an ever-changing economy in today's times. The activities designed in PR3 were grouped into 3 main activities : R3/T1. Contact and create community , R3/T2 Create platform and R3/T3Complete platform with content. The first activity to make the DisFinLit Community known and start being active is going to be through our 3rd Newsletter that has access to the google form created by EURODIMENSIONS to start having a community of members. Through the networks of partners and associates, the community will actively contact potential participants to expand the reach and involve a larger number of stakeholders. By creating a dynamic and creative community, DISFINLIT facilitated the sharing of pedagogical content, training materials and innovative teaching methods tailored to the unique needs of its target audience. By focusing on sustainable financial education, the community contributed to a greater understanding and application of sustainability practices, benefiting future generations and promoting more responsible and informed behaviors in individuals and communities. The DISFINLIT Community Facebook page was created, which played a key role in accentuating its reach and impact. The “Adapted curriculum and materials for disabled people from existing financial literacy courses paying special attention of sustainable finances” is the first main result of the DisFinLit project. The concrete outputs are developed by the 4 Activities that are: A.1 Compendium of existing educational material and good practices in financial education and sustainable finance. A.2. Definition of learning objectives in accordance with EU instruments for lifelong learning for people with disabilities.A.3 Develop training curricula adapted to people with disabilities. The PR3 Community of good practices is the second result .The concrete outputs are developed by the 3 Activities that are: A.1 Contact and build community with as many stakeholders as possible related to our target group in the EU and in our partner countries. A.2 Create and select the best platform to place community content and communication tools. A.3 Include the contents and start disseminating them.
