Objectives

The OpenDigCompEdu project aimed to complement national initiatives by providing a European perspective to develop a European Digital Education Content Framework and contribute to defining the criteria for a European Digital Skills Certificate (EDSC), key priorities of the EU Digital Education Action Plan 2020. The project developed detailed courses and incorporated micro-credentials to improve and validate educators’ digital competences. The following objectives were successfully achieved: 1) raising awareness of the need for a digital education ecosystem in European schools; 2) devising and validating profiles of digitally competent educators within open education; 3) enhancing the uptake of open education practices, resources, and tools for competence-based teaching; 4) fostering sustainability in education through open education frameworks; 5) improving recognition of digital competences through e-portfolios and MOOCs; 6) introducing micro-credentials and open badges for digital competences; and 7) strengthening collaboration among educators, learners, institutions, universities, and EdTech companies. The project leveraged joint experiences from the diversity of partners, ensuring impactful outcomes.
