The DUAL-Ad project aimed to create a European cooperation partnership to share and transfer the Adapted Dual VET (ADVET) at European level, by creating a common methodological framework, train experts in its implementation and establish a European network of ADVET apprenticeships. The project had the following specific objectives: 1) share the ADVET model at European level and analyze how it can be integrated with other training programs promoting employment of people with intellectual disabilities, which are being carried out in the other partner Countries of the project; 2) develop a common European methodological framework, to facilitate the implementation of the ADVET in the other Countries of the project; 3) develop and test a training program for experts in ADVET implementation, aimed to trainers and professionals supporting people with intelellectula disability; 4) establish a European network of practices about ADVET, with the aim of promoting the dissemination and implementation of the model in other European Countries. DUAL-Ad was not a one-way transfer, because – thanks to the exchange of experience and knowledge between the partners – the model was adapted to the characteristics and needs of each Country.

DUAL-Ad lasted 36 months and was implemented by a partnership of 8 organizations from 6 EU Member States: Spain, Belgium, Finland, Italy, Luxembourg and Romania. The Project Work-Plan included the following activities: 1) elaboration of Methodological Guidelines for the implementation at the European level of the ADVET for people with intellectual disabilities; 2) development of an open On-line Repository of educational and training resources, made of short learning videos. These videos easily illustrate the main components of the ADVET. 3) elaboration of common learning contents to train experts in the design and implementation of the ADVET; 4) organization of 2 transnational training and learning activities: a pilot training activity for ADVET experts, which aimed to test the training Curriculum developed; a joint learning activity for people with intellectual disabilities, carried out by applying peer-to-peer learning methodology. 5) organization of 5 multiplier events in Finland (face-to-face and on-line), Romania, Spain (Galicia and Balearic Islands) to boost the dissemination and exploitation of results at national level; 6) organisation of 1 Final conference in Brussels at the European Parliament.

DUAL-Ad originated 3 main outputs: 1) Methodological Guidelines for the implementation at European level of the ADVET for people with intellectual disabilities. The Guidelines describe in detail the main components of the ADVET, the methodology and procedures to be taken into account in the implementation of this training model; 2) an open On-line Repository, which includes short learning videos explaining and resuming the main components of ADVET; 3)a Common European Curriculum to train experts in the design and implementation of ADVET for people with intellectual disabilities. The training contents was prepared on the basis of the Methodological Guidelines. Other relevant result of DUAL-Ad was the establishment of a European network of practices about ADVET. This network involves the professionals who attended the transnational learning and training activity that took place in Palma de Mallorca in April 2024, to test the training contents of the Common European Curriculum. Another important achievement of the project was the dissemination of the ADVET model at national and European level among stakeholders such as people with intellectual disabilities, their families, public administrations and the business sector.
