There is No Planet B
▶Summary
We applied for this project because climate change is still having a negative impact on the environment, the economy and people's health and is now considered one of the biggest challenges facing humanity in the twenty first century. In the past few years, various initiatives have been launched to try to curb climate change. Education is an essential factor in the ever more urgent global fight against climate change. Earlier knowledge on environmental effects was validated and strengthened by statistics, data and large numbers. However, statistics are too hard for children understand or evaluate the changes so that`s why we applied for this project. This project helped young people to understand and tackle the consequences of global warming, encouraged them to change their behaviour and help them to adapt to what is already a global emergency. Schools , had a central role to play in helping learners understand the causes of climate change so now, they can make informed decisions and take appropriate actions, and in acquiring the necessary values and skills to participate in the transition to more sustainable lifestyles, green economies and sustainable, climate resilient societies.
▶Objectives
We wanted to focus on nature & raise awareness on environmental problems and to improve students' confidence to take actions and believe they can make a positive difference. Another important objectives were: - To improve ecological life philosophy on our learners, increasing our students’ respect for the biological, social and cultural diversity that is fundamental to our World - To expand ICT & language skills which they can use in a meaningful context - To prepare and deploy the education and training of professionals for equity, diversity and inclusion challenges in the learning environment - To strengthen the international cooperation through sharing good teaching learning practices The results we achieved with our goals are: - Our students now see different approaches to mitigate climate change and raise their climate literacy level. - Awareness of all aspects of climate change increased, not only among students, but also in families and local communities - Awareness of protection and conscious use of natural resources was created.
▶Activities
ACTIVITIES IMPLEMENTED : - Project Management : As the applicant we represented the link between all the partners, offering advice, being also responsible for the time management according to the calendar, the first progress report and the final evaluation. We took care of the project management, communication and administrative requirements; - During the project lifecycle we organized online meetings, four LTTs and two TPMs . - We started the implementation of possible activities such as the selection of project logo , students researches and presentations about what is weather and climate, word clouds about climate change, writing essays about "what does our future look like", videos created by students about climate change. - Workshops were implemented during the LTT with students with a special focus on sustainable way of living. These activities reflected a growing awareness among students about the need to take action on climate change and adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives. By engaging the students in these activities, they did not only learn about environmental issues but also developed skills that will help them become responsible citizens and leaders of tomorrow. The students participated the online -offline meetings , guided their teams in the implementation of local activities. - Monitoring The Romanian partner assisted the applicant to monitor the project activities constantly to make sure that the implementation of the project under control, in a structured manner and with recurring and pre-established steps, in order to: - highlight the trend; - record the differences between what is being achieved and what has been forecast; - inform the actors of the monitoring system (recipients, beneficiaries, targets, stakeholders, etc.) about the critical issues that arise from time to time to find the most appropriate solutions. -Dissemination (please see in details the related section)
