▶Objectives
The objectives we wanted to achieve in this project were numerous. The main objective was to train six deafblind persons from France, Belgium and The Netherlands on the Pro Tactile and Pro Tactile Theater. We also wanted to contribute to their empowerment and give them the opportunity to discover the theater community, unsufficiently known among them due to lack of accessibility and tailor-made communication tools. Moreover, thanks to this project we could boost their creativity and promote the development of their social skills. Finally, thanks to the dissemination of the project’s results, we could raise awareness to the wider public including deafblind people on the Pro Tactile and the Pro Tactile Theater.
▶Impact
The project results are : - The six participants master the Pro Tactile language and developed artistic skills in Pro Tactile Theater. - Deaf, deafblind, and hearing persons who attended the “PT coffee” encounters, the theater shows and/or followed the publications on the project (among others the posts and stories on AccesVisuel’s Instagram account) are sensitised about the Pro Tactile language and aware of the importance of its use among deafblind persons. - Each partner organisation (AccesVisuel, Empoway and DBCX) gave trainings and conferences in their respective countries thanks to the expert input from trainers and/or participants in the training of this project and are currently developing a programme/strategy in order to provide trainings on a structural basis and/or tailor-made to interested organisations. - A new collective has been established at European level and is composed of representatives from the three partner organisations (AccesVisuel, Empoway and DBCX) with the aim to promote the Pro Tactile language through learning, awareness-raising, and training activities in the European countries.
