Summary

Excessive consumption, intensive farming, deforestation and pollution have all been key factors in triggering the global health catastrophe we have been experiencing since 2020. Yet junk food, wasteful eating and a sedentary lifestyle are still an integral part of our lifestyles, and are all silent threats to the health of our young pupils and their environment. and their environment. It is more urgent than ever to find other food and consumption models. We wanted to raise our pupils' awareness of sustainable development through a project dedicated to high-quality, ethical food that is better adapted to our needs. We also wanted to encourage our pupils to open up to the world by continuing the European partnerships already established with Swedish and German secondary schools and by creating a new partnership with Spain. These schools are involved in this cultural transformation, which is also at the heart of regional initiatives such as L'Occitanie dans mon assiette and Extremadura 2030. These exchanges have enabled pupils to compare the behaviour and consumer habits of young people in Europe, by getting them to work together in authentic situations. We also wanted to enable disadvantaged pupils (50-60%) to take part in a E

Objectives

These activities helped to achieve the following objectives: - compare consumer habits in Europe; - study distribution methods using short distribution channels; - discover the diversity of agricultural products grown in different regions; - acquire microeconomic knowledge (agricultural structures, local businesses) and macroeconomic knowledge (regional, national and European trade); - develop their creativity and self-confidence; - improve their language skills; - encourage social interaction and improve the school climate; - gain access to a culturally different environment that will help them develop a sense of belonging to the European community. For the educational community, these visits were an opportunity to experiment with different teaching approaches and to exchange ideas on our practices, to positively develop the image of the high schools (general and vocational); - to improve teachers' professional practices and language skills by comparing them with those of other European partners; - to develop teachers' motivation and team spirit.

Activities

During the 3 mobilities and virtual exchanges, the 4 partners had the opportunity to carry out various activities such as: - analysis of pupils' diets and sporting activities in relation to their school results awareness - raising and discovery workshops run by local associations ; - setting up balanced meals for students; - recycling activities with the local producers and distributors; - documentary film screenings hosted by the schools' film clubs; - participation in vegetable gardens created by partner schools; - visits to farms, organic market gardening and sustainable fishing.

Impact

During the first virtual exchanges, the French, Spanish, German and Swedish students exchanged their video CVs to create pairs. They also presented their respective schools, towns and regions through slideshows and short videos. The pupils created communication tools throughout the project (event posters, a shared Instagram account, Madmagz digital magazine), as well as for the workshops they ran during their visits (regional recipes, graphic expressions and their translations, Kahoot questionnaires, games on seasonal produce, product tasting). They were also involved in organising and running the organic fair at the Lycée Pierre Mendes France (contact with local producers, agricultural engineers, selling products, games, publicising the event).
