Objectives

Applying for this project would allow us to create a real partnership between our vocational schools in order to implement a real policy of European internationalisation of our vocational training establishments by reinforcing their attractiveness and by allowing our students to benefit from professional mobility programmes which reinforce their employability through an enriched experience in our common vocational training. This exchange experience should affect both our teachers and management staff through the implementation of job shadowing allowing the exchange of practices and collaboration between schools as well as student mobility within partner institutions in order to follow common vocational courses and to carry out work placements within companies in the host countries.

Activities

Our project is based on four mobilities: A coordination meeting to set the operational and financial management of the project, followed by a preliminary research work done by the students of each high school, punctuated by exchanges with elected officials and historians. The three following mobilities are organised around a programme of activities based on the same model, aiming to create a real European awareness and professional synergies in our common carpentry and architecture sectors, with study trips giving rise to the study of different cultures and heritages, the discovery of European institutions and exchanges with local, national and European elected representatives on democratic values. Educational work is used to reinvest knowledge and observations in the creation of posters and the development of a web journal. Professional work is used to compare practices and to develop skills booklets aimed at implementing future professional mobility. Company visits and the organisation of a conference on the professions are used to improve knowledge of the professional culture in each country.

Impact

A collaborative web journal was created by students and staff. It was designed to report on all the activities carried out during the project. Two skills booklets were produced for the two joint courses in architecture and carpentry. These cover both the organisation of the courses within the schools and the educational content of these courses. Posters were created by the students who reinvested the notions studied on the research themes and confronted their vision of democracy, secularism and their history. A tree of life was designed to testify to the European citizenship that motivates them. A website and real promotional clips were created. Some groups of students took the initiative to create other digital media to show their awareness of this European identity, for example through a timeline creating a link between the different monuments observed during their mobility. A promotional brochure was created to communicate the European outreach policy and the different professional mobility opportunities available to students.
