Summary

By the "Game4CoSkills Project", we aimed to develop a mobile game for cognitive skills development and concept teaching for adults with intellectual disabilities to use individually or in a group format.

Objectives

The idea behind creating a mobile game was to cover multiple cognitive skills development and concept teaching strategies and to make it more challenging as performance improves on colour, memory, math, accuracy, logic, dexterity, multitasking and attention to details. We wanted that adults with intellectual disabilities have a free and fun digital game to easily improve their cognitive skills and participate in enjoyable group activities.

Activities

Below some of the main activities we organized during the project: . online meeting and face to face transnational meetings with the other partners, . research activities, . brainstorming activities to design the game, . focus groups and pilot tests with end users and trainers of adults with intellectual disabilities . also multiplier events and inclusion conferences.

Impact

We have created: . a website that is available on https://game4coskills.eu in the 6 languages of the project (English, French, German, Greek, Italian, Turkish). . a digital game . and several official results as per the list below: PR1 – Cognitive skills development and concept teaching scenarios The essential purpose of the “Cognitive skills development and concept teaching scenarios” is to recognize the target users’ characteristics, learning needs, and accessible learning objectives. It contains learning objectives and training schemes for cognitive skills development and concept teaching scenarios. The result is based on a research to be applied to 50 trainers of adults with intellectual disabilities in each partner country, a national report on the results of the aforementioned research and the subsequent definition of the applicable teaching scenarios. The PR1 deliverable can be found on the project website (on https://game4coskills.eu, menu Results) in the 6 languages of the project (English, French, German, Greek, Italian, Turkish). PR2 – Mobile game for cognitive skills development and concept teaching The essential purpose of the “Mobile game for cognitive skills development and concept teaching” is to choose and improve suitable categorized mobile games on colour, memory, math, accuracy, logic, dexterity, multitasking and attention to details. We developed it in the 6 languages of the project (English, French, German, Greek, Italian, Turkish). In our official proposal, we planned only to produce a mobile game on Android devices. It can be downloaded from Google Play. Direct link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Interactive4D.g4cs Although it was not planned, we decided during the project to make an additional development effort so that it can be used by anybody who does not have an Android device and so we developed also: . a version for iOS devices (iPhones and iPad). It can be downloaded from the Apple Store. Direct link: https://apps.apple.com/fr/app/game4coskills/id6471690424 . and a version for computer (PC and Mac). It can be played directly within a web browser without download on https://game4co.eu A video tutorial can be found on the project website (on https://game4coskills.eu, menu Results) in the 6 languages of the project (English, French, German, Greek, Italian, Turkish). PR3 – Trainers’ toolkit The essential purposes of the “Trainers’ toolkit” are: . To describe the requirements, scenarios, instructional methods, training needs, objectives, methodologies. . To develop the assessment tool for trainers to apply pre-test and post-test to follow the progress of adults with intellectual disabilities in cognitive skills development and concept learning. The PR1 deliverable and a video tutorial can be found on the project website (on https://game4coskills.eu, menu Results). PR4 – Policy recommendation report The essential purpose of the “Policy recommendation report” is to present a concise summary of information that can help readers to understand the success of the project activities and provide conclusion and recommendations about government policies for the innovative teaching methods of the cognitive and concept teaching for people with intellectual disabilities. The PR4 deliverable can be found on the project website (on https://game4coskills.eu, menu Results).
