Promoting seniors' employment and self-employment
▶Summary
When you consider that people over the age of 50 who continue to work remain socially active and in good health, it is quite natural to encourage the employability of seniors. Seniors have a great deal of experience and skills, and can contribute to the success of their company, but they face obstacles such as age discrimination and a lack of skills, especially as we are in the digital age, and COVID has demonstrated the importance of digital transformation. The aim of the partnership is to address the issue of adult training, particularly for older people. The partners are keen to continue the work on inclusion and diversity among adults and to improve education and training for senior citizens.
▶Objectives
The aim of this project is to offer innovative training tools to support seniors in the transition from traditional entrepreneurship to digital entrepreneurship in the digital age, to help seniors overcome the obstacles they face in accessing opportunities and to combat the potential source of age discrimination. The training programme covers : - key and transversal digital skills - digital skills for professional inclusion - digital skills for communication. SENEXIA aims to strengthen and improve digital skills for senior entrepreneurship and the use of European digital skills frameworks to support educators, citizens and organisations.
▶Activities
To accomplish its objective, SENEXIA realised various tasks and activities that resulted in four intellectual outputs. These activities included project meetings to discuss the progress of project activities and decide on improvements and directions for the project. We also organised pilot training sessions for senior citizens aged 50 and over, social workers and adult educators. Multiplier events are organised in the participating countries to raise awareness of the tools developed by the consortium and inform the various players involved, social workers working with senior citizens, adult educators, political decision-makers, beneficiaries and other stakeholders. Dissemination events are also organised, with newsletters published via various communication channels.
