"Pour une communication européenne non violente: Tous en scène!"

To help people with fewer opportunities to become autonomous and emancipated, the key areas to work on are the self-knowledge, interaction with others and communication, according to the project's partners coming from the fields of integration, training and Forum Theatre. The target groups often show a lack of self-confidence, reflected in difficulties in communicating at work or in social relationships, shyness and poor self-image, fear of hurting or offending others, questioning the legitimacy of speaking out or using aggressive behaviour to protect themselves. These breakdowns in communication lead to a negative spiral (clashes, withdrawal and a feeling of discomfort and frustration) that reinforces negative self-perceptions and hinders social and professional inclusion. The project aims to develop inclusive, participatory activities and emphasises the importance of the group in acquiring new communication skills and knowledges in addition to building self-confidence in the professional, social and personal spheres.

1) To enable the target audience to discover new methods of communication. We have decided to use the term "assertive communication" to cover a range of non-violent communication methods (Rosenberg's NVC, Gordon's methods, etc.). We believe that discovering these methods will help these people to acquire greater self-confidence, particularly in their professional lives. 2) To encourage people to put these new methods into practice on a daily basis, i.e. to make them want to learn more about themselves and use these tools in their personal or professional lives. In order to do that, Forum Theatre activities are a major asset. 3) To test the methods and approaches developed by training and/or support organisations for these particular audiences in the various European countries involved. 4) To raise awareness and train professionals from the project's experimental structures in Forum Theatre methods and assertive communication, as well as people with fewer opportunities who are supported by these structures. This will enable the project to be reflected on, developed and disseminated.

A five-day learning activity that took place in Italy (Trento) in July 2022, organised by Giollicoop and supported by XIXA. The workshops were aimed firstly at the organisations' trainers and support staff, to help them implement the approach and make it their own. Then, it was aimed at a group of voluntary target audience, to enable them to get familiar with Forum Theatre, understand the method and its objectives, and spread the word among their peers. This activity made a major contribution to the launch of our public research project from 2022 onwards. It took place over 5 days, in the form of group work and workshops led by GIOLLICOOP staff. It was an opportunity to learn the basics needed to launch the next stages, particularly about forum theatre, the role of the Joker and on how to approach the verbalisation of emotions and the skill of empathy. We also carried out activities to produce results that could be disseminated to diverse structures such as training, integration and adult education structures in our various partner countries. The project has four distinct but interdependent outcomes based around a "module to improve communication skills for people with fewer opportunities, based on Forum Theatre and assertive communication methods", combined with the use of a collective logbook. 1) A practical guide to creating, using and implementing a guided group logbook (OI1). 2) A METHODOLOGICAL GUIDE for facilitators of the module "Improving communication skills for people with fewer opportunities, based on Forum Theatre and assertive communication methods" (OI2). 3) A manual of pedagogical tools and resources for the implementation of the module "Improving communication skills for people with fewer opportunities, based on Forum Theatre and assertive communication methods" (OI3). 4) A practical guide for conducting and leading Forum Theatre activities (OI5).
