Immigration et Liberté

The issue of migration and freedom is one of the major challenges facing Europe today, and in the future. For this project, we have tried to establish a network of schools that allows us to understand the complexity of our topic and to include as much personal experience as possible. We aim to help our students understand the historical dimension of migration, quantitatively analyze its present aspects/challenges, and reflect on immigration as an opportunity for the future of Europe. Such a project has several objectives: Educational objective by sharing experiences of working methods. Developing skills: linguistic skills, in the field of European citizenship, intercultural understanding. Intercultural exchanges: exchanges and cooperation between different cultures and nationalities, providing an opportunity to meet other students. Support for integration: raising awareness about the challenges of immigration and promoting integration. Improvement in the quality of education: sharing pedagogical practices and new teaching methods. Promoting the creation of sustainable international partnerships.

Our project has been designed to achieve several essential objectives, and at the heart of our initiative is the desire to instill in learners the values and principles of human rights and democracy (dignity, equality, solidarity, non-discrimination, pluralism). These values form the foundation of our society. We believe that youth is a crucial time to instill these principles and encourage active and responsible citizenship. Our project also aims to promote a historical and current analysis of the phenomenon of immigration. Immigration is a complex issue that shapes our society in various ways. It is therefore essential that students understand the causes, consequences, and challenges related to immigration. We seek to encourage critical thinking and open constructive dialogue. We also wanted to promote intercultural understanding. Even though we come from different countries, we share common values. By exposing our students to other cultures, we hope to strengthen their tolerance and respect for diversity. This is also an opportunity for our students to step out of their usual environment and broaden their cultural horizons.

Within this project, we've developed various activities to promote intercultural understanding, raise immigration awareness, and enhance our students' linguistic and social skills. These include creating promotional materials, hosting an International Day of Tolerance, establishing a digital space for student interaction, celebrating International Mother Language Day, designing a project logo, organizing Europe Day activities, an Erasmus Week for sharing experiences, a day of living together in peace, celebrating International Francophonie Day, acknowledging International Women's Day, celebrating International Foreign Language Day, conducting a statistical study on migrants, and addressing immigration-related stereotypes. Additionally, during mobility periods, participants met with emigrants, immigrants, and organizations promoting coexistence and assisting migrant integration.

The Erasmus+ project 'Immigration and Freedom' achieved various outcomes: Media Exposure: They secured a local press article and aired a video report, increasing local awareness of immigration issues. Awareness Materials: They created posters displayed in schools and on ETwinning websites, informing students, teachers, and visitors about the project. Results for Teachers and Students: Teachers adopted innovative methods, including technology, to address immigration and freedom. An interdisciplinary approach integrated these themes across various subjects. Students showed increased motivation in collaborative, intercultural activities. Students' social and cultural skills were strengthened. Improved linguistic skills through international communication. Enhanced respect and tolerance for diverse backgrounds promoted unity in diversity. Fostering understanding of human and democratic values reinforced their commitment to these principles. Cooperation in Europe instilled a sense of belonging to European culture. Students learned to accept and respect others' freedom, contributing to a more inclusive society. Deeper understanding of migration prepared students to be responsible, informed citizen.
