▶Objectives
With STEMBot, we wanted to create an innovative and inclusive teaching method to counter students' lack of interest in science. Our aim was to bring maths and science to life, by demonstrating their relevance in the real world. Thanks to this chatbot, students would have access to practical experiments via videos, enabling them to understand science in action. By focusing on real-world applications, we wanted to stimulate students' interest, encouraging them to consider a career in these fields. Our approach would incorporate inclusive elements for disadvantaged learners, including those with learning disabilities. The chatbot would offer personalised learning that could be accessed anytime, anywhere. In addition, its use would reinforce students' digital skills, which are becoming essential in a post-pandemic world where the demand for digital skills was growing, despite an insufficient level in Europe (44% of EU citizens).
▶Impact
The collaboration between the partners resulted in the development of the following teaching tools within the allotted time: PR1. The introductory guide ‘STEM: from interest to integration’ available in the different languages of the partnership on the project's dedicated website (6 languages: French, English, Portuguese, Estonian, Macedonian, Slovenian). PR2. 20 Videos of scientific experiments produced by the partners Logopsycom, GoInno and Fermat Science (6 languages). PR3. The science behind the experiments - 20 lessons and 20 quizzes have been produced (6 languages). PR4. The STEMBot chatbot was designed using Chatfuel software in collaboration with all the partners. It has been translated into all the languages of the partnership and is accessible on the META platforms: Facebook Messenger and Instagram. PR5. Educational guide to using STEMBot This guide can be downloaded in the different languages of the partnership from the project website. PR6. Guide to creating a chatbot for STEM learning This guide is available for download in the different languages of the partnership on the project's dedicated website.
