By providing easy to use resources to the educational community, our project aimed to respond to the needs of teachers and schools, and to bring environmental and ecological transition education to as many people as possible. In developing this project, we also wanted to bring together the fields of school and popular education with the scientific community and local expertise in ecological and social transition.

If we are to take massive, collective action to achieve the necessary social and ecological transition, the education system needs to continue its transformation by increasingly integrating environmental education and education for change into classroom practice. Various national and European surveys have shown that the lack of resources for training and creating teaching materials is a major problem for educators. The aim of our PACTE project (Sharing, Learning, Understanding for Ecological Transition) was therefore to provide effective educational resources, free and widely accessible to teachers and educators, to enable schoolchildren (and others) can understand and take action, both individually and collectively, to combat climate change and, more generally, environmental degradation. The aim of the project was to strengthen environmental education and sustainable development initiatives in educational circles. In our view, this is essential if the ecological and social transition is to be massively stepped up and the current social and environmental challenges overcome.

In the end, we created 180 (60 per country) educational toolkits covering 6 key themes: Climate, Water, Biodiversity, Responsible Consumption and Production, Health and the Environment and Eco-citizenship (including the social dimensions of the UN Sustainable Development Goals). All the content has been translated into French and Italian (and some into English). Each educationnal toolkit is made up of our three main products: themed activities and ready to use teaching materials for the classroom (29 activities in total), online resources for webinars and/or remote work (32 media), and themed educational posters (6 exhibitions of 4 5 visuals) for wide distribution. During the project, and in particular during the testing of our educational products, we raised awareness among 1,120 pupils and supported the work of 35 teachers. At the end of the project, we also held dissemination events in each country, attended by 130 people in person and even more remotely. The project also enabled us to strengthen the expertise of our staff and organisations, as well as our partnerships.
