Summary

We applied for this project because we wanted to continue our cultural, linguistic and digital cooperation with Spanish and Portuguese schools during our first Erasmus project LocuRoma. With this second collaborative work, one of the main themes of which is democracy within our European societies, we have extended our ERASMUS project to include an Italian school and two Greek schools. Halfway through our three-year project, we have met the following needs: Introduce our students to the principles of Democracy: During mobility in France and Italy, we have set up learning workshops so that our students are aware of the birth of Democracy within ancient Greek and Roman societies. Upstream, each school had worked on this theme in different formats: research, selection of documents and information to develop slideshows or presentations on this theme. Develop the learning of foreign languages by building spaces of collaborative creativity for students: The teachers of the language line have set up activities in English and Spanish in order to develop the linguistic and cultural skills of our students. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1HMeAf_uwOsWkgc3wqlkgXBHrbt7NcpJlM63Bva2wpLo/edit

Objectives

We wanted to achieve the following goals: - Organization of workshops and video-conferences and the development of a documentary-newscast in English and Spanish with subtitles in French, Greek, Italian and Portuguese. - Work on a collective and innovative project in which learners are actors in their language learning. - Promote “the voice and the world of the pupils” from the angle of their critical thinking, enriched by the common historical and cultural values that have shaped European values. The other results: The use of digital tools (audiovisual editing, videoconferencing, posting of documents online, creation of collective blogs, production of digital images) within several educational projects carried out which aim to involve the student in Group work International by building spaces for reflection (on language) and creativity (documentary-television news). The SPREAD-EpdE plan, this dissemination plan aims to establish a working method for the dissemination of the Project in our school and in each partner school, and also for future projects.

Activities

First, the History and Moral and Civic Education teachers gave definitions of the different types of democracy and analyzed the political system in which our students live in each country. They have elaborated a slide show which gives the necessary knowledge on the birth of Democracy in the Ancient World. Then, they established video-conferences in order to animate workshops on the theme of Democracy (citizenship and democracy in Athens; citizenship and Empire in Rome). Each school of the ERASMUS project was thus able to collect information on the birth of Democracy in the Greek and Roman civilizations, its evolution with democratic ideals and created presentations with the following digital tools: Powerpoint, Prezi, Genially. Then, the Spanish teachers from France, Italy and Portugal, made the link with the school program of the year of Première, in particular with the axis Territory and Memory which deals with the Civil war in Spain (1936 -1939), the Franco dictatorship (1936-1939) and the transition to Democracy (1975-1978). https://docs.google.com/document/d/1HMeAf_uwOsWkgc3wqlkgXBHrbt7NcpJlM63Bva2wpLo/edit

Impact

One of the results of the project is the elaboration of a documentary-newscast with pupils dressed as ancient Greeks and Romans who present the television news and people from the Contemporary World who are our pupils asking questions passers-by in the streets of Lyon, Strasbourg, Milan, Verona, Rethymnon, Heraklion, Chania and Athens. The dialogues are developed by our students, the informative parts, the street interviews, the sketches, the storyboard, the filming of the different parts, the editing, the subtitling. Regarding the translation of the television news (one of the results of our project), this will be done in the last year of the ERASMUS project when our short film will be edited by the technical and digital team of the ERASMUS group. Through the work of the different students and teachers and the different readings, the language and linguistics teachers will write an ethnographic study of the learning / teaching of modern languages within the ERASMUS EpdE project (collection and analysis of data then interpretation). https://docs.google.com/document/d/1HMeAf_uwOsWkgc3wqlkgXBHrbt7NcpJlM63Bva2wpLo/edit https://docs.google.com/document/d/1HMeAf_uwOsWkgc3wqlkgXBHrbt7NcpJlM63Bva2wpLo/edit
