โ–ถSummary

There is currently no cure for Alzheimer's disease and related disorders, making it a health and social challenge for all countries with ageing populations. Because of the loss of reference point...

โ–ถObjectives

The aims of this project were to - Develop the FMN platform to make it more widely accessible, in particular by improving accessibility for people with sensory disabilities such as dys..., visual ... and by developing other language versions. - Introduce an interactive sharing function - Develop an assessment tool to determine the most appropriate level and type of activity with FMN, taking into account the communication skills of people with neuro-evolutive disorders. - To develop training modules and resources on the basic digital skills needed to use the platform, to learn how to implement specific reminiscence activities in medico-social institutions and at home, and to mobilise resource persons or ' liaisons ' for training and organising workshops. - Piloting, testing, evaluating and refining new productions and training resources in collaboration with our network of associated partners. - Identify and use tools to assess impact in the short, medium and long term. - Disseminate results widely and create a network of expertise.

โ–ถActivities

Once the partnership had been trained in the existing FMN methodology, extensive work was carried out to improve the accessibility of the FMN platform, create an online library of themed memories, add a function enabling users to share their memories and use the platform in 8 languages. The second activity consisted of creating a set of new resources for users, including support professionals, trainees in the care sector and family carers. These include an implementation strategy for managers and relay professionals in facilities and a guide for trainers on the best way to run reminiscence workshops. Other resources included a series of video tutorials on digital skills, various activity plans for using the platform in health and social care facilities, mini-tutorials and a communication skills assessment tool. All the results were tested and their impact assessed, and the project was disseminated using various communication channels, followed by multiplier events.

โ–ถImpact

The first result was to improve the accessibility of the 'FMN' platform. Sharing and account functions have been added to enable families and support professionals to create and share the memories they have created. The platform and training resources have been developed in four additional languages. The second result is an enhanced set of training resources including: an implementation methodology for health and social care professionals, a step-by-step guide to organising reminiscence discovery workshops and video tutorials to complement and enhance basic digital agility skills, a range of activities based on the 'FMN' method for health and social care institutions and day centres to support and facilitate the use of the platform by family carers. This range of training and information resources is complemented by a set of mini-tutorials, with the aim of maintaining interest in the platform, and an observation tool focusing on communication to identify the level of capacity of people with Alzheimer's disease or related disorders. The overall result is the development of a methodology for using the platform, improved training and wider support through the networks.
