โถObjectives
The S-DIY project aimed to achieve two main objectives at the same time: to encourage debate among the different social groups involved in the project and to increase their knowledge of EU and international action in favour of environmental sustainability. In particular, the project pursued the following objectives: 1. To encourage debate on social inclusion among the different groups of young people and trainers. 2. To raise interest among young people from different backgrounds in the SDGs and their implementation in the EU. 3. Identify best practices on how to foster an inclusive dialogue between young people from different social groups. 4. Improve the skills of youth trainers by providing them with innovative tools to promote young people's debate on international sustainability and active European citizenship. 5. Test an inclusive simulation model on the implementation of the SDGs in the EU. 6. To strengthen the "soft skills" of young participants by involving them actively in debates on the SDGs, in particular their sense of initiative, speaking skills, critical thinking, active listening, etc.
โถActivities
In order to achieve the above objectives, the partners have set up the following actions: - Collection of initiatives and good practices on how to foster an inclusive dialogue on the SDGs and other environmental issues: https://sdiy-project.eu/initiatives-for-youth/ - Exchange of ideas and opinions on the main issues relating to climate change and environmental policies between young people from different social groups and trainers on the S-DIY platform: https://sdiy-project.eu/discussions/ - Organisation of inclusive debates involving both young people from very different backgrounds and youth trainers, with the aim of raising young people's awareness of the issue of implementing the SDGs in the EU and increasing educators' skills in organising debates aimed at improving young people's "soft skills". - Dissemination and promotion of the results and resources of the project in each country of the partnership and among the European partners of the consortium members. - Quality control of S-DIY results and activities using questionnaires to measure the indicators set at the start of the project.
โถImpact
Through the activities detailed above, the project produced the following results: - Enhanced non-formal skills of young participants, such as cultural mediation, public speaking, critical thinking, group work and debate. - Improved pedagogical skills for trainers, thanks to the acquisition of new methods for organising/facilitating debates between young learners on the SDGs and the environment. - Inclusion of target groups usually excluded from non-formal education activities in face-to-face debates and exchanges of opinions in an international online environment. - Increased knowledge of climate change issues among young people and trainers, and heightened environmental awareness. - Empowerment of young people through activities to disseminate their ideas on the S-DIY platform and through the report resulting from the debates, which was presented during the final conference to stakeholders involved in youth training and in the fight against climate change. - Enhanced cooperation between European organisations on the themes of the SDGs and youth education.
