My eco friendly school

The main reason for applying for the project was the desire to raise greater awareness of the impact of garbage on our environment among students, teachers, parents and the wider local community, as well as introducing them to strategies for recycling, reuse and reducing the production of such garbage. Our wish was to develop environmental literacy and sustainability in everyone and to raise environmentally friendly generations that will lead to a greener, better environment. We wanted to test new methods for teachers to raise new generations who think green, so that these students, as adults, will be able to choose more environmentally friendly decisions in their daily lives. During the project development, every partner school will apply to be a certificated ECO-SCHOOL, so that all the goals reached during the project will be kept alive also for years after. This will surely raise the quality of primary school education, providing teachers with competence and knowledge to conduct 3Rs activities, focusing on a topic that is not currently considered as priority in most European primary schools. We strongly believe that environmental education should be a focus to care of, at every age.

OBJECTIVES • to help participants create and maintain a sustainable environment through education, • improve pupils’ skills and competences in environmental education and sustainability of schools, • identify, develop and test 3R best practices with teachers of pupils aged 10-13years in the four countries, • raise professional/digital skills and competences of the teachers to improve education quality level, • engage school's staff, pupils and families in opportunities to learn about environment, waste and sustainability, • provide advice and guidance on how to write a successful proposal and plan a sustainable project, related to concrete needs and objectives SECONDARY AIMS: - raise awareness of materials used in every-day life, - distinguish which materials are recyclable and which are not, - learn to make compost, -raise awareness in pupils, teachers and families, of the massive use of plastics -help families to use natural products to replace chemical ones, -focus on waste reduction, -learn how to reduce the use of materials and resources in our every-day life -learn how to properly separate garbage for recycling, -reuse any kind of material that we would throw away, -get acquainted with renewable energy

The project activities are designed on active learning methods and collaborative activities and we hope at the end of the project, each participant will be able to use the taught techniques effectively. Thanks to the 4 physical and 4 virtual staff training and project activities with students we managed achieve the project aims. 1. PYHSICAL STAFF TRAININGS each of which focused on different themes with short term staff training. VIRTUAL STAFF TRAININGS Teachers enroll themselves in training using a gmail or carnet account.
