Objectives

After identifying common organisational needs, we set ourselves 3 specific objectives: 1) Have highly skilled staff in wilderness first aid - because they will be able to design and deliver more, more exciting, higher risk and efficient outdoor programs for adult learners. 2) Develop a knowledge-sharing platform and a common first aid protocol - because this can be the basis for jointly led international training and will strengthen the professional community. 3) Organise a high-visibility programme that may draw the attention of the Western European community, even a professional cooperation - because this will 'put us on the map'. This is one of the keys to organisational development and, not least, it will strengthen the individual learning needs and labour market position of adult educators working in the organisations of this partnership. To achieve these objectives, we have identified the introduction of two intensive wilderness first aid training courses and a knowledge sharing tool as the most appropriate tools. The NOLS methodology has been selected as the technical framework. Because of its reputation, its effective, practice-oriented approach and its flexibility to be applied in a changing regulatory environment.
