Objectives

Through DIGI.MUSE, the partners aimed to: • Strengthen the educational and integrative role of small museums through the definition of innovative digital solutions • Increase the capacity of museum operators to create itineraries and projects to increase use by disadvantaged groups • Increase opportunities for accessing the Erasmus programme through a personalized Capacity Building path • Enhance the quality of work and practices of the organizations involved • Promote international collaboration between small museums by setting the stage of the first European Network of small museums • Attract new participants to the Erasmus programme • Support active European citizenship and bring the European dimension to the local level

Activities

To achieve the planned objectives the partners carried out the following activities: A1 IDENTIFICATION AND ANALYSIS OF DIGITAL SOLUTIONS TO INCREASE THE EDUCATIONAL AND INCLUSION FUNCTION OF SMALL MUSEUMS. The partners mapped educational projects carried out by various museums across Europe, obtaining targets, objectives, methods, digital tools, strengths, weaknesses and lessons learned. Furthermore, they identified methods and pathways for their low-cost, small-scale adoption. A2 CREATION OF A PERSONALIZED CAPACITY BUILDING PATH ON THE ERASMUS PROGRAMME AND THE EUROPEAN PLANNING PRINCIPLES, through a series of meetings to transfer skills and tools firstly to the project coordinator, the Genti d'Abruzzo Foundation, and then to the entire category that this represents A3 SETTING OF REQUIREMENTS AND GUIDELINES FOR THE CREATION OF A EUROPEAN NETWORK OF SMALL DEMO-ETHNO-ANTHROPOLOGICAL MUSEUMS. The partners set the basis for the future foundation of a network, outlining its purpose, structure, governance, financing methods and other operational elements. They also extended the invitation to participate in the network to 215 museums across Europe.

Impact

In two years, the partners have developed the following results: • A GUIDE, PRODUCED IN ENGLISH AND ITALIAN, TO DIGITAL SOLUTIONS to promote inclusion activities in small museums. The Guide is made up of ILLUSTRATIVE FICHES which collect 23 good practices mapped throughout Europe and an ANALYTICAL MATRIX which facilitates the replication and adoption of each single practice by small museums • A series of MEETINGS and a SCHEMATIC GUIDE FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE ERASMUS PROGRAMME (in English and Italian) co-developed by the partners based on the needs of small museums. The Guide is made up of 13 Units that introduce museum operators to the fundamental principles of European planning, transmit skills for access and participation in E+, offering operational tools and guidelines for efficient project management and use of EU platforms • GUIDELINES FOR THE CREATION AND MANAGEMENT OF A EUROPEAN NETWORK • MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (in EN and IT) OF THE FIRST EUROPEAN NETWORK OF SMALL DEMO-ETHNO-ANTHROPOLOGICAL MUSEUMS • An EXPRESSION OF INTEREST in Google Form (in EN and IT) sent, together with all the other results of the project, to 215 museums across Europe
