Summary

The project arose from the significant impact of the COVID-19 crisis on global education. Recognizing the serious obstacle the pandemic posed to achieving international education goals, especially...

Objectives

The objective of the project implementation was to achieve an overall goal focused on building a more sustainable and resilient society within the European Union. This involved enhancing the delivery of education and training following the crisis from COVID-19, with a specific focus on supporting innovation and the inclusion of vulnerable groups. The overall goal was to promote equal opportunities among individuals from diverse backgrounds. While specific project objectives included: -Supporting Vocational Education and Training (VET) providers in addressing teaching and learning processes. This support aimed to facilitate the development and implementation of new and more relevant teaching and learning approaches.-Restrengthening vulnerable groups to effectively navigate the challenges presented by the sudden shift to online and distance learning.

Activities

The VELA project is structured into several work packages (WPs) to achieve its objectives and produce the intended results. These work packages cover the entire project life cycle, from initial analysis and development to dissemination and dissemination of results. They are: 1. Project management (WP1): This work package ensures the smooth coordination, management and completion of all planned activities. It is related to the allocation of resources within the set timeframe and effective communication with the National Agency responsible for funding and all partners involved. 2. Development of project results (WP2): This work package focuses on the implementation of the activities planned for the creation of the 4 main outcomes of the VELA project. Outcome 1: Research analysis and identification of best practices for the development of innovative VET pathways and e-learning skills acquisition. Outcome 2: Design, development and testing of the Moodle platform to support accessible online learning. Outcome 3: Development of the e-book, 'How to increase the quality of e-learning, maintain high concentration during online sessions, and use gamification resources.' Outcome 4: Skills validation and recognition tools. Building on this outcome, project partners, with input from VET stakeholders, will develop methods and tools for assessment, validation and recognition to be integrated into all project outcomes. 3. Testing (WP3): This phase is dedicated to testing the sustainability of the project results. Throughout the project, actions are planned to improve the results through testing and feedback. 4. Quality Assurance (WP4): At the beginning of the project was an evaluation and quality assurance plan. The goal was to implement high quality procedures and ensure a clear understanding of each partner's contribution to the overall quality of the project. The quality plan applied to each work package, to each transnational meeting, and to the project as a whole. Post feedback reports were submitted, which showed a high level of satisfaction and quality. 5. Sharing, promotion and use of project results (WP5): Sharing activities aimed to maximize the publicity, transparency and dissemination of project results to ensure maximum impact and large-scale dissemination of results and outputs to target and general audiences. Achieving and exceeding the set indicators. Sharing activities began with the project itself and will continue after its conclusion. This structured work package approach ensured an efficient and focused implementation process. Each phase contributed to the development of tangible results and the success of the project.

Impact

The VELA project aimed to build a more sustainable and resilient society in the EU by improving education and training provision after the COVID-19 crisis, supporting innovation and inclusion of vulnerable groups. Concrete results: The project produced four concrete results: 1. Handbook: Analysis of the scope of the VELA project and sharing of best practices. An in-depth analysis (desk research and field research) of the VET sector was conducted, reporting on the best practices of 10 European countries in learning and teaching. The results of the analysis were disseminated through a handbook facilitating knowledge sharing and experience exchange among the different project partners. 2. Moodle platform for digital accessibility: A Moodle platform specifically for digital accessibility was developed with the aim of supporting VET educators in the inclusion of individuals with disabilities in e-learning. The platform offers a range of resources and tools to facilitate online learning for all learners, regardless of their abilities. 3. E-book: Improving the Quality of E-Learning: An e-book was produced that addresses strategies for improving the quality of e-learning, with a focus on techniques for maintaining concentration during online sessions and the use of gamification tools. The e-book provides VET educators with practical tips and suggestions for making online learning more engaging and challenging for students. 4. European e-skills framework: A European e-skills framework has been developed, complete with tools for validation and recognition of acquired skills. The framework provides a common reference for the assessment of digital competencies in VET, facilitating student mobility and job placement. Other outcomes of the VELA project have had a significant impact on VET in Europe, contributing to: -Improving the quality of e-learning and making it more accessible to all. -Promoting the inclusion of vulnerable groups in the education and training system. -Develop new digital skills in line with the needs of the labor market. -Strengthen collaboration between different actors in the VET sector. In addition to the elements listed above, the VELA project has produced added value in terms of: -Raising awareness of the importance of innovation in education and training. -Promotion of a culture of lifelong learning. -Strengthening social cohesion and active citizenship. In light of what has been achieved, the VELA project has been a significant step towards building a more sustainable and resilient European society through its commitment to inclusion, innovation and quality in education and training.
