▶Objectives
The project was aimed at creating an European network of social organisations committed to promoting the social inclusion of prisoners and contributing to the continuous training of operators in the sector. The general objective was to improve the quality of life of people in detention and/or marginalised, by promoting their social and professional reintegration. The specific objectives were to increase the development capacity of each partner organisation and the competences of their staff members (educators, social operators, etc) who work on a daily basis with detainees or ex-detainees. Through the exchange of good practices around social inclusion of marginalised subjects, PLAN B aimed at testing, systematising and enriching the methodologies and tools used by each partner organisation in order to share them among the partners, provide training to social operators on their usage and, eventually, implement them with the users. Furthermore, PLAN B wanted to contribute to raise participant and stakeholder awareness on inclusive and non-discriminatory communication and make the results available in an open and free way for all interested European organisations.
▶Impact
The concrete outcomes of the PLAN B project were: An Handbook collecting organisations’ training methodology and tools and tools for self-assessment and self-evaluation, published in each partner’s language (English, Italian, Portuguese, Turkish) and freely available on project website and on each organisation website; Project website: https://lazzarelleu-a-plan-b.jimdosite.com/ Video presentations of Study Visits, Articles on EPALE, posts on social media, local events The main result of the PLAN B project was the improvement of the skills of the staff members of the partner organisations by peer-learning: trainers / adult educators daily working with detained and/or marginalised people : staff members and professionalism to work at European/ international level and the creation of new participatory practices of international mobility for ex-prisoners, to support the change and encourage the reintegration and socialisation of ex-prisoners. Moreover, an unexpected but brilliant project result was represented by the creation of a social enterprise employing ex-prisoners in Ireland, born on the Lazzarelle model and its entrepreneurial asset.
