Objectives

Geoparks are areas recognized for their exceptional geological heritage and significant cultural, ecological, and educational value. With this Erasmus Project about Geoparks, we wanted to achieve:  Conservation and Preservation - to develop sustainable management plans, promote responsible tourism practices, and enhance the protection of sensitive areas within geoparks.  Education and Awareness - developing educational materials, training programs, and workshops for students, teachers, and local communities to raise awareness and improve knowledge about geoparks.  Local Community Engagement: -to involve local communities in Geopark initiatives is crucial for their long-term success. Collaboration and Networking: -to establish partnerships, facilitate knowledge exchange, and promote cooperation among geoparks across different regions and countries.  Sustainable Development. -to promote sustainable tourism practices, economic diversification, and the integration of geoparks into regional development plans.  Research and Innovation - research initiatives, encourage interdisciplinary collaboration, and explore innovative approaches to Geopark management, interpretation, and visitor experiences.

Activities

We have implemented 3 LTT activities in the project. LTT1-:Madonie Geopark Activities LTT2: Holly Cross Geopark Activities LTT3:Azores Geoapark. We participated in the online meetings to decide how to organize the work and the mobilities. We focused our program on Geoparks, or those specific geographical areas with recognised sites and landscapes of international geological value and which are managed according to a holistic concept of protection, education and sustainable development. In the Geoparks, the protection of geodiversity is a primary objective: conservation is combined with sustainable development and involves local communities creating opportunities for collaboration and exchange of experience. All partners, during the mobilities trained in the Madonie Geopark and also in the Holy Cross Geopark and Azores Geopark on geology, geomorphology, flora, fauna and vegetation making comparisons and observations on climate changes. Teachers from partner schools already had knowledge of EGN (European Geopark Network), GGN (Global Geopark Network) and geoeducation. Our activities were enriched by visits to the municipalities and museums in geopark, farms with tipical products

Impact

Results: What were the concrete outputs and other results of your project?* we set our school geopark clubs and units. We created our logo We created a project website We created lesson plans to disseminate to all schools We created posters and banners to disseminate to other schools. We opened a Facebook group Geoeducation for everyone After each mobility hosting partner created eTwinning page in Twinspace. Poland and Italy prepared the e- book of 4 Geoparks. Each partner implemented dissemination seminars/ conferences Each partner has created a team (2 people) for monitoring the whole project
