▶Objectives
The main objective of the EDEN project was to promote sustainability education through an interdisciplinary teaching approach. The aim was to develop a teaching methodology focused on sustainability and respect for the environment in partner schools, integrating these themes in a structural way into school curricula. The project aimed to stimulate teachers to reflect on their relationship with the environment and to improve their skills through the adoption of new teaching methodologies. For the students, the objective was to develop a critical spirit and sustainable citizenship skills, making them protagonists in the planning and implementation of solutions to concrete territorial problems. Finally, EDEN aimed to experiment with a set of criteria to evaluate the sustainable citizenship skills acquired by pupils, contributing to the formation of a generation that is aware and responsible towards the environment
▶Activities
Various activities were implemented in the EDEN project, involving students and teachers. These included virtual mobilities, local activities and an event in Brussels for some selected students. The teachers worked on the development of interdisciplinary teaching units and participated in training, both local and international. The students formed the "EDEN Team" and were involved in the implementation of 18 teaching units that were part of the "EDEN Toolkit", putting into practice six positive actions at the end of each thematic workbook. These activities also included participation in events such as Green Week and sharing sessions organized in schools. Furthermore, the teachers involved integrated the project's methodological innovations into their ordinary lessons, extending the impact of the project beyond the direct participants.
▶Impact
The concrete results of the EDEN project include the development of six working papers which have been incorporated into the "EDEN Toolkit for Sustainable Citizenship". This toolkit represents a compendium of reflections and insights regarding teaching methodologies, strategies to stimulate student involvement and proposals for educational paths. Each working paper dealt with a specific topic related to sustainability, such as the protection of biodiversity, energy sustainability, and climate change. Each paper was composed of three teaching units, aimed at exploring local situations and implementing concrete interventions to solve environmental problems in the various European territories represented in the project. Furthermore, the project had a significant impact on the development of teachers' and students' skills, improving their understanding and involvement in the issues of sustainability and environmental respect
