Objectives

The aim – to develop professional competences of teachers and special educational staff for creation an inclusive academic, social and emotional environment for migrant pupils. The aim was achieved through the following objectives: 1. provide teachers and special educational staff with innovative training material (OER) and knowledge to enable them to work with the marginalized pupils; 2. supply teachers and special educational staff with teaching/learning tools to reduce learning disparities and strengthen pupils’ mental well-being; 3. increase the capacity of school communities (teachers, parents, pupils, school administration) to foster successful inclusion of migrant pupils through dialogical groups; 4. support teachers and special educational staff in dealing with diversity in the classroom through exchange of work based best pedagogical practices. We wanted to create useful training material and tools for teachers, school leaders, special staff education which enable them to meet professionally the challenges posed by the rising wave of migration and re-immigration in Europe and the rest of the world. Also, to support pupils from migrant backgrounds to become well-integrated into education system and community.

Activities

To meet the aim and objectives of the project the partnership implemented the following activities: • Proper management of the project activity plan and finances, 11 virtual and 3 face-to-face meetings have been organized; • Qualitative preparation of the project deliverables, quality assurance has been performed and 6 reports (14 units) has been developed by the internal evaluator; • Dissemination of the project aim and results at local/regional/national and international level; • Measuring the impact of the project deliverables on the participants, participating organization and target groups; • A project website and Facebook, logo have been created to spread the information about the project to wider audience and to provide training course on learning platform MOODLE. • A leaflet has been issued in English and 4 partner languages; • 5 newsletters about the project progress; • 4 intellectual outputs were produced. They were tested by created Local action groups (59 persons), translated into 4 national languages, piloted and improved according to recommendations of the participants; presented as OERs on the project e-learning platform (MOODLE). • The intellectual outputs have been disseminated during 4 national workshops and 1 EU conference for teachers, special education staff, parents and stakeholders; • 16 (including 2 of the host organization) participants from partner organizations have been trained to work with the 4 intellectual outputs. They became trainers of training courses at national level and conduct the training at national level; • 218 teachers and special education staff participated in piloting of training course in all partners countries; • Prepared 2 interim and 1 final report. We have created useful training material and tools for teachers, school leaders, special staff education which enable them to meet professionally the challenges posed by the rising wave of migration and re-immigration in Europe and World. Also, to support pupils from migrant backgrounds to become well-integrated into education system and pedagogical community.

Impact

The project partnership developed 4 intellectual outputs : O1 E-training course for teachers and special educational staff 'Inclusive education approach for successful integration of migrant pupils' which consists of Moodle e-learning platform, a methodology how to use MOODLE platform, a Curriculum, 4 modules, a self-assessment tool (20 questions); O2 Toolkit for teachers and special education staff “Vertical classroom model – an innovative approach to deal with diversity in the classroom” which includes 7 examples of brochures “Getting started in the host school”, A Handbook with a set of 30 lesson plans for the vertical classroom; the recommendations for school special educational staff on how to tackle the integration, inclusive education problems; OER repository of existing digital resources in EN (73 links) and (43 links) in NL about the sensitive issues at school to work with pupils; O3 The Living Lab „Building supportive community“: 20 dialogical scenarios to work with migrant parents and 20 scenarios to work with pupils in dialogues groups; E-guide for teacher how to organize dialogical groups; O4 A Set of practical pedagogical experiences „Successful pathways to social, emotional and cognitive integration“ for teachers and special education staff: 12 the best pedagogical practices with 36 reflection questions and 43 recommendations.
