Summary

We applied for the BIOSTEAM project to address the global environmental crisis by equipping youth with innovative tools and knowledge through a biomimetic approach. Our aims were to raise awareness, engage youth in environmental issues, and foster entrepreneurship. Key needs addressed: -Integrating environmental topics into youth work and education. -Tackling low youth entrepreneurship rates in Europe. -Providing training to overcome barriers to youth entrepreneurship (lack of skills, ideas, fear of failure). -Facilitating behavioral change towards nature-oriented entrepreneurial mindsets. The project involved partners from five countries, ensuring cross-sector collaboration. We targeted 20-30 year-olds, offering entrepreneurial skills and best practices. We also supported youth workers and educators with innovative curricula. BIOSTEAM project addressed essential needs in youth entrepreneurship and environmental awareness, equipping participants with tools to foster sustainable entrepreneurship beyond the project's duration.

Objectives

The BIOSTEAM project aimed to achieve the following objectives: -Support youth entrepreneurship by increasing understanding of environmental challenges and opportunities. -Help young people overcome obstacles in entrepreneurship, such as lack of experience, ideas, and self-confidence. -Improve youth workers' and mentors' skills in supporting green entrepreneurship. -Increase youth engagement in sustainable business initiatives through a bio-based mentoring program. -Enhance young people's entrepreneurial skills through mentoring and practical experience. -Boost youth interest in and understanding of bio-based business models. -Improve youth skills for international cooperation and business partnerships. -Enhance youth workers' ability to include environmental topics in non-formal education. -Increase visibility of existing bio-based business practices. The project used a biomimetic approach (morphologic, functional, and systemic) to create an e-learning tool, case studies, and mentoring support. This "learning by doing" experience aimed to help young people establish business projects by creating different bio-models.
