Innovative Training Toolbox to Foster EU’s Industry 5.0 Evolution

EVOLVE 5.0 project aimed to develop an innovative training toolbox for VET organizations and trainers to exploit in order to support the industry and the industry workers through a successful transition to the Industry 5.0 principles and values. The project’s specific objectives were: • Explore what a renewed European Industry 5.0 may look like and how it could make European industries more future-proof, resilient, sustainable and human-centered. • Investigate possible ways in which technological innovation can be deployed to support a better fit and 'win-win' interaction between industry and society, shifting focus from shareholder to stakeholder value. • Investigate the main skill gaps and barriers in the evolving 5.0 industry sector in Europe. • Investigate how Industry 5.0 could benefit rather than threaten industry workers, while respecting planetary and social boundaries • Design training courses to update and requalify workers of the industrial sector, focusing on the uptake of the skills that are necessary for the development of Industries 5.0 • Provide e-leadership skills to students, workers and managers that will lead to better employment and career opportunities and make companies more competitive and innovative.

The Evolve project used a structured approach with a comprehensive Management Handbook guiding overall and financial management, including tools for implementation, risk management, and partner communication. Four transnational meetings and regular online steering committee meetings ensured alignment and progress tracking. Key deliverables included an Industry 5.0 Competence Framework, VET training materials, an e-learning platform, and policy toolkits. Multiplier events across partner countries disseminated results. Quality assurance was managed through detailed evaluations and reports. Dissemination efforts included creating a project logo, website, and social media profiles, complemented by periodic newsletters to promote key outcomes. A Sustainability and Exploitation Plan was developed to ensure the long-term impact and utilization of project results.

The Evolve 5.0 project delivered concrete outputs including a new Industry 5.0 skills framework for employers and workers, innovative VET training materials, and an e-learning platform integrating all project results to enhance sustainability and accessibility. An interactive toolkit with policy recommendations was also developed, ensuring wide transferability of the project's outputs. Significant intangible results were achieved: VET trainers enhanced their competencies and teaching methodologies, thereby enriching their educational tools. Project partners grew their expertise and reputation as national promoters of Industry 5.0 skills. Additionally, 105 industry employers and 210 workers developed crucial skills for the Industry 5.0 transition, improving their critical thinking, self-assessment, and communication skills, fostering personal growth and professional adaptability.
